Go check out the HDR vs DV section of this test. Literally splitting hairs to look for differences and they're so minute, that it's not even an issue not having DV. If you want to spend the $5k for a Sony, be my guest. Excellent TV, definitely the best for 480p/720p content. But lack of DV is a non-issue as I love the overall image quality that the QD-OLED Gen 2 in the 77" produces.

As for the gaming test, I don't think he turned down color temp from Warm 2 for the Samsung which is why it has a lot of warmth in the image. I keep mine at Normal (which is 2 settings cooler than Warm 2) for a white is whiter image. And gaming colors pretty much look the same in my household on all TVs.

Any way, enjoy your DV if you have it, it's not a mind-blowing life altering format that people make it out to be.

I bought the 65 inch s90c from Samsung for 1548$ including the tax with free shipping. I managed to maximize my Samsung savings and contacted their customer service to get an additional 10%. In addition I was able to get 10% CB from PP. This put down the price to 1400$ that includes tax. The only issue is a limited warranty of 1 year.

I compared the picture quality between the LG C3 and the Sami S90C at Best Buy yesterday. Definitely like the S90C better so I pulled the trigger on S9OC 77" for $2248 before tax after showing them the screenshot of how much I would have paid on Samsung website. No brainer at this price point.

My point is having DV doesn't mean it's the more accurate image or the better looking one when the TV/panel itself has shortcomings.

Sony A95L might be the best TV when it comes out but it is $5000 for a 77". Will have to wait and see for reviews. Especially how it handles bright scenes and objects. Sony has somewhat of an agressive ABL.

Sony sources their OLED panels from LG though.

they do not. You clearly did not read through all the posts. Sony uses QD-OLED in their high end OLEDs. And? QD-OLED is the invention of Samsung. So they use Samsung's panel in their flagship TV. That means that if they want to have the best TV in the market, they use Samsung panels. Which are the same panels Samsung also uses, minus DV. But the video link I posted above shows you're really nitpicking on differences between HDR and DV. It's a tradeoff depending on the movie. The results are not consistently in favor of one or the other.
