Isn't that the reason why screens are curved, to combat the terrible viewing angles from the sides of the screen?
Yes, but I wouldn't say VA viewing angles are terrible. That's how I would describe TN

Good luck with this. I bought three of the 27 inch Acers from Costco last month and had to go through 6 before getting 2 with no dead and stuck pixels. My third one has one dead pixel but after all the return hassle I just deal with it.

This or the LG ultra gear deals floating around $150~210 at Walmart? That LG is also QHD w/ 165hz, but it's flat instead of curve

The curved acer monitors are a problem. I have a 24 in one and the back panel is peeling from the body 2 years in.

VA sucks so bad. Black on screen will strobe and smear as you or the picture moves. Total crap experience

All this hate on VA monitors, I've seen and have owned ips monitors that are total crap. There are different quality among TN, va and ips. Little kids these days get so spoiled bashing on monitors that actually not too long ago was costing 400-600. They don't know what they are talking about. Sub 200$ for a 32" 165hz monitor from a reputable name brand and they are asking for more?

As I understand it, screens are curved in order to reduce eye strain, this is assuming you are sitting centered on the monitor. The curvature brings the edges of the monitor closer to you than a flat screen would which makes the distance between your eyes and the edges of the monitor to be closer to the distance between your eyes and the center of the monitor. By having a more uniform distance to what you are looking at, the amount of changing of focus your eyes have to do is reduced. I don't see how curving the monitor helps with off-angle viewing, if anything it'll will definitely make one side worse than the other. I would say if your use case is a single person looking at a monitor from center, you are better off with a curved monitor. If you have more than one person looking at the monitor at the same time, you can't both be planted in that centered, optimal viewing location and a flat monitor may be preferable for that type of collaborative use case.

With this in mind the VA panel, which offers better contrast than IPS, makes sense in a curved monitor while IPS makes more sense in flat panel applications since it has better off-angle viewing properties.

Would this be worth buying for a video editing setup as a 3rd monitor? I have the $45 off Costco card from another deal here.

I am going to go a little off subject but I got this monitor last year but then had to return as we moved abruptly.

I felt that specs for price were decent and we liked the monitor for the short time we had it.
Can anyone recommend something similar ie: 32, QHD, IPS in the 200$ range. Would a jump to 4k would be worth it?
I cant seem to find similar LG specs for current models...
Thank you in advance
