I feel these tabs are overrated. After watching "Technology connection" video on Dishwasher Detergent, I think everyone is overpaying for these tabs.
I switched from expensive Cascade gel/tabs to Walmart branded detergent and see no difference in washing fidelity.
If you still want tabs the Kirkland branded ones do the job just fine. $12 for 115 tabs, 10.4 cents per tabs.
I run my dishwasher 2-3 times a day (at least) and I've gone through a couple of bags of these as well as a couple boxes of the Kirkland brand over the last year or so and ultimately I like the Kirkland brand better for one reason: the Kirkland powder pods all get used where as I come across at least a couple of burst Finish pods in each bag. I once bought a couple of bags of the Finish on sale at Costco and by the time I got to the last bag, the burst pods in there looked real nasty - I don't know if it was mold or what, but the leaked blue liquid from the burst pods turned a gross looking green color. Don't like whatever that nasty stuff may be touching the other in tact pods that are still useable. I only buy Kirkland now but I never really noticed a difference in wash quality between the two.

I switched to Walmart branded detergent after watching the video and my results were total crap. Tried all the recommended tricks - a little more, a little less, some in the tub to function as a pre-wash. I went right back to the tabs. I wonder if something recently changed in the detergent formula.

Maybe it's hard water in your area. I am not sure what the problem is. If tab works for you then stick to it. It's a YMMV thing.
These things can stick to the detergent dispenser so the wash gets done half assed. We have been draping them over the lower rack which I'm guessing impedes their effectiveness.
