I think people are just sick of Hollywood taking a source material from an author and injecting their own belief system that wasn't the authors. Tolkien was a devout Christian (Catholic). The entire Lord of the rings story patterns after the concepts of Catholicism. The burden of the ring, and the temptation of evil. Frodo carrying this cross like Christ. The destruction of the Ring and the fall of Sauron happens on the 25th of March, an absolutely pivotal date of Christian significance. Tolkien once said
"The Lord of the Rings is of course a fundamentally religious and Catholic work; unconsciously so at first, but consciously in the revision". Within his written letters (letter 142). He and C.S. Lewis were close friends. C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia was also Christian based. The character Aslan the lion, is supposed to parallel the"lion of Judah" aka Jesus of Nazareth, aka his nickname. These concepts go over most simpletons who enjoy these works. But people who know... care. These were the real visions of these artists works.

Ah yes. And for our next "diversity" virtue-signal, we're going to take some Japanese-based mythology and start working in Nigerians and Brazillians.

People like you always miss the point. Tolkien created a whole world. If you're going to play in that world, then you should have enough respect to play by HIS rules. Otherwise, go and make your own world and then you can put whatever you want in it.

Lord of the Rings extended for this price is a no brainer. Would buy em but already have em! Hobbit though.... I guess if you're getting the 6 movie bundle it's only $10 more.

Man, I have both Triologies in Vudu and physical copies. I don't think I have the LOTR in 4k though. Is it a good remaster? worth buying?

Edit: NVM I have 4k in Vudu lol

The Hobbit movies are not "really good." Great actors but when you turn a beloved 200 pg book into nine hours of movie, the results are predictable.
So Hobbit shouldn't have been that long, what a waste. Why did they force so many hours into the movie? I feel like the way they released extended versions of the LOTR, and when I watched it (it was my first time watching the movies) it never felt like any part should have been missing to begin with.. They should do the same for hobbit, release recut versions with unrelated stuff removed and scenes shortened. Would that help?

Having said all this, is it worth considering getting the movie at $5 each? I paid $25 for LOTR bundle before and well worth every penny.

"woke" lol.
I love how people are using this to say they don't want non white people playing their favorite fantasy characters. My only beef is the casting in general of certain characters but that has nothing to do with "woke". Everyone I know who isn't a Tolkien hardcore purist or easily swayed by political riling up, loved the show. Dont like it, dont watch it. The narrative flow could just be better but they seem to already have addressed that by changing the show runners for S2. But hey it's not like they have the rights to all the books either so needless to say a lot of gaps needed to be filled in.

Are these the ones with the hours of removed scenes that was released some years ago?

Would have loved to jump on this for the 6-movie set, had I not already purchased the LoTR extended edition trilogy set. Is the Hobbits set at 15 worth it? For additional 10 on top of the LoTR set it would've been a no-brainer

It's also possible to know and not care at all.

I already own all these movies, but $25 is a great deal the entire set in 4K. Keep in mind the running time of each of these films is 3-4 hours. When you think of it in terms of quality viewing time, you're getting so much more than 6 feature length films.
