I decided to jump on this. For anyone interested, this comes in the original box, however it will not be shrink-wrapped. The laptop, however, was wrapped in plastic as if it was new, and appears flawless. I had to call Apple and provide a photo of my receipt to initiate the manufacturer's warranty, including AppleCare+ (I have not added it yet).

Very satisfied so far; I needed the 32GB for VMs, remote work, Logic Pro, and just not having to worry as much about how much stuff is going on at once.

EDIT - The warranty information has populated in the Settings > General > About section. Limited warranty is 1 year, unlike the 90 days listed on the Microcenter website. Also says I have 61 days to add AppleCare+.

I see several people mentioned they were able to update the Apple warranty date and made them eligible for AppleCare+. But has anyone successfully added AppleCare?

Called Apple support today the 2nd time and was able to get the purchase date updated and got the 1year warranty and now I can buy AppleCare Smilie
So, Diamond is a legitimate refurbishment and HUCA was definitely the case. Good luck to you all who got this great deal. Enjoy your new MacBooks! 😁
Did you buy applecare yet?

Thanks OP. This came back in stock for my store location and I was able to get one:

- The box is the original box (not the certified refurb box that's all white). The box is not wrapped however and clearly looks not new.
- The laptop inside is vinyl wrapped and cosmetically in perfect condition. No scratches anywhere (just a few smudges which I could clean up easily) and the keyboard looks unused as well.
- The accessories (the charger and the magsafe cable) are all brand new.
- The battery is also new, at least according to System Info (cycle count 2, capacity 100%)
- The SSD is also quite new, much better than some refurbs I purchased directly from Apple (300gb read / 200gb write after updating the OS to the latest version).

Overall very happy with it so far.
how did you check your SSD

Is an Open box for 1,259.96 worth it?

I was looking for open box, but ended up purchasing one certified refurbished. Someone probably had buyers remorse and returned. I think its worth.

Snagged the MBP 14 with 16gb/1TB for myself. Will look into extending the warranty as well.

For 1599 you can buy M2 Pro, 16GB ram, 512GB ssd on apple website (refurb) which I prefer due to the newer processor.

Can anyone comment on this? 16 GB vs 32 @ 1TB vs. 512gb? its only 50 bucks more on my end for the 32 GB ram but I loose half the storage space and drop from 10 Core to 8. I don't have large storage needs, but is the speed of the hard drive the same? What's the play here?

Might wanna ask this over at the r/macbook and r/macbookpro subreddits as I'm not the most well-versed in these details. I'm a light user, mostly using my Mac for websurfing and reading documents, which means 16gb is right about enough for me. I prefer having at least 1TB as I find that having a few apps and a handful of movies and even the occasional light game fills things up fast.

I was able to grab one last night, and yes they increased the price to $1399 but still a great deal. The unit came in the original Apple box sealed. Accessories were brand new and the laptop had all the plastic and film on it, looks brand new. Battery cycle count is 2. Was able to call Apple customer service and add the one year Apple warranty on it with the option for Apple Care. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this!
Do you remember what you said to add the apple warranty on? I called right now and the support specialist was unable to add it saying he's never heard of this. It got escalated to a senior rep and he also had no clue.

True, even I got the same response. They were not able to update the purchase date or extend the original warranty. Has anyone got success recently?
