dumb question -- can this be used as just a digital note taking, task planner, scheduler?

can you just open a blank document and take notes that can be stored digitally?

open a day planner page and add notes/meetings/etc?

This is probably too big and heavy to hold and read in bed right? I use Oasis every night reading lying down. It's very light to hold one hand for long time. The Scribe is like double the weight. Be nice to have a larger screen and more text on the screen.

Neat. Previous low was around $200 (64gb with upgraded pen), after returning bundled crap and trade in trick

Yes. I use it to draft stuff and kids as scratch pad for homework.
Software is clunky, file export is tedious (have to email to yourself). If you need to manage files, I would avoid it, iPad is probably better

Should be eligible for it.

Here is the Amazon Trade-In Program [amazon.com] page for more details/value
So it stacks?

I think this is the time when I got in on it. That was a great deal.

Thanks! I used an echo dot for trade-in. Also I bought an official fabric cover from Amazon warehouse for $13. It was in new condition, just a few marks on the box.

The Scribe is totally worth it for reading. It's perfect for everything, especially any larger book formats. Just max out storage

Does the "KINDLE2023" promo code stack? With the discounted price?
It does (see attached). However it did now work for me on the regular Amazon (maybe because I already used it with another Kindle before), but it worked on amazon business. So if anyone has the same issue and has amazon business - you can try that, it gives another 15% off and $15 worth of ebooks.

Tried doing a trade-in it was not instant. Chatted with support, they said ask again after I receive the order, they will make adjustments.

Some info on amazon business, not sure if it's common knowledge, you don't need to have actual business to open amazon business, google it, or search reddit, or this site maybe. You can have Amazon business for free (except you need to have Amazon prime), it's a separate account with a separate email, but it's linked to the regular amazon account. When you have it may be used to double dip on some deals, like discover deals, and others, sometimes, not always, so if you are into that. Think about it. I din't open it for that - it has offers Amazon Amex biz card.. The free plan is Business Duo, or rather now it's called: Business Prime Duo and has Prime features.

info [amazon.com]
it's free if you have a regular Amazon Prime [amazon.com] wasn't like that before (was not free), changed recently and still naming is confused I think.

not sure if you can get just Duo w/o Prime with non-Prime amazon now, you could try

Not sure I'd be opening a business account for just one deal, business accounts UI is pretty convoluted, in some place, like it's hard to understand what plan(s) do you have. For me it lists two separate plans Duo and Business Prime which in theory is one plan called Duo Business Prime, doesn't show plan prices. And shows different start and renewal dates. Other convoluted things like that. Also some good staff. Support is better. Got like 4 or 5, I think, pretty good or crazy good offers in the first 6 months, Amazon never sent any offers/coupons like that to me and they had 20 years to do it; I mean something like $100 off $250 computers or accessories. Or $75 off $150 on any technology. Not amazon devices. But than it stopped, maybe because I'm not buying much. Generally prices are the same or worse then amazon.com, which some exceptions - here and there I see better deals comparing to amazon.com (which I'm not looking for much, maybe there are many, don't know), also they have discounts for buying in bulk.

I have one of these that I use as a journal and reading device. It's pretty decent sized, but I love the bigger screen when in bed. If you're mobile all the time I might recommend Oasis if weight or size might bother you. For what I use it for it's perfect, and I would recommend it at this price if you're trying to get into reading.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing. That brings down the price nicely.

I'll probably still pass on this I think I am not the intended audience for the scribe

Amazon is announcing new hardware (likely including Kindle) at an event tomorrow [theverge.com], so might be worth waiting a day to see what they announce. Kindle Scribe is just under a year old, so unclear if they'll put out a new version, but I'm planning to wait and see
No kindle.

Couldn't use the Kindle2023 code even though I have not purchased anything recently. I'm wondering if there will be an extra discount come Prime day?
