The Endorphin line was created to compete against the Nike VaporFly or AlphaFly series of shoes which were (and still are) winning all the premier running races. These used really big stack heights, exaggerated heel and toe off and advanced foam (with usually an energy return plate - this specific model doesn't have) to hopefully create the extra few % benefit for runners to benefit from. Though this is the 'trainer' in the Endorphin line without most of the tech and is more about the fitment matching with it being the lowest end foam and no plate.

Why are the soles so more gigantic than Saucony usually is?

I enjoy the endorphin series. I run in the shift 2 and have ran in the speed 3.
I found the shift 3 to fit a size too small, one of the few Saucony shoes that hasn't fit TTS.

It's a good price for a well-received shoe. I would say that this shoe is best for daily mileage. It's a firmer ride but it also has a lot of stability. "Speedroll" tech is one of the better rocker designs out there.

the midsole extends into the main last slightly to provide a "frame" for your foot. It's a typically "guidance" feature seen in maximal shoes these days. Hoka / NB do this often too.

The Shift is the Endorphin shoe with the most padding, so I think it's probably the heaviest in the Endorphin line-up and best for daily running. My personal experience as a new runner it's the shoe I got started on and its my favorite. Very very comfortable. The Shift 3 looks tight.

I love the shift 2s so I'm tempted, but I feel these have another $20 to lose by black Friday

I feel like they are discounting Shift 3 because they are trying to push the very new Kinvara Pro to be the contender in the cushioned daily trainer space.

The Kinvara Pro is even higher stacked, on paper, it is probably Saucony's most versatile daily trainer offering even compared to the Triumph and Shift 3.

I am no runner nor an athlete by any means but looking for comfort (walking and standing at work for hours). Would this be good for that?

If you are long distance runner, I would recommend to try them on before buying. If you are the runner, then you don't need the advice 😁

Saucony is my new favorite brand. Switched from Asics kayano as their upper is not breathable. $25 Saucony ride 15 is better than $90 gel kayano 29.
