The motherboard prices for AM5 CPUs are much higher though. For a really low budget PC, a B450 board + 16GB DDR4 might fit the budget, while an AM5 board and DDR5 memory might not.
Very good processor but will be 3 years old in November, but that is a decent price. It is better than decent and would make a very good budget machine
This can give you a lot of gaming power for low price. I would not recommend buying this unless you already have an am4 motherboard. If you are starting from scratch move on up to the 7000 series. I still have this in my gaming machine with a 6800 and I am not seeing a need to move up for a few more years.

I have the 5600 OC'd 24x7 @ 4.7ghz. The 5600x maxes out at 4.6ghz stock but I suspect it will do 4.8ghz. Regardless is the 5600 or 5600x is around $100. It would be a big bang for your buck deal. Even @ $130. The 5600x is a good deal if you already have a Ryzen system with an old CPU.

You just compared a 500$ system to a 800$ system without GPU. That 300$ difference being saved with AM4 motherboard cpu and ddr4 is pretty sizeable.

Most people will hit 4.7. If you hit 4.8 stable you can try to buy a lottery ticket! 😆
Had my eyes on this one for a few days and saved in my ebay cart 5-5600x for $130+tax. Still debating whether I buy the 5-5500 for $91+tax on amazon or this 5-5600x.
Can someone suggest a GPU for $150-$175 range.
If i am replacing old intel i7 and old mb, to this new AMD, do i need newer connectors too or my old connectors will work fine?

Unless you buy used you arent going to get a decent card at that range. You can get a 6600 from $180-200, but for another $30 you can get a 7600 or 6650xt. I have a 7600 paired with a 5600x and 32g ram, I can play almost anything natively at 1440p60-120(display is 120hz). FSR does a decent job upscaling beyond that if your display is 4k.
will this be a significant upgrade for my 5600G + B550M + RX6600? I really want to utilize the PCIE 4.0 lanes but idk whether it's worth paying for it.

You will get the best performance gains getting a better gpu. 5600g should work well with up to a 6650xt or 3060 if you have 500-500w psu. Can probably go all the way up to a 3070 or 6700xt if you have a beefy psu.
