I don't know if this is against the rules but you can hear my song Here's to Waking using this guitar with the Sustainiac doing it's thing around 1:15 to 1:30

This is likely the lowest I've seen a Schecter Sustainiac model go on sale for. Their most affordable FR-S is the Sun Valley Super Shredder and that goes for $899.

You can price match this on Musician's Friend for 8% back in rewards as well.

I have this guitar, and I think I paid around this price years ago, pre-covid. The guitar is stellar. Excellent craftsmanship on the guitar. The sustainiac is an amazing tool. As most guitarist, I started by overusing it. But fairly quickly learned that it has a place. Now it's off most of the time, but I kick it in when I want it. The 3 modes of the sustainiac are also great. Take time and learn each. It will add so much to your overall playing.

The feel of the neck is absolutely amazing. The neck through has a nice heal, making easy access to the higher frets. I use this guitar every time that I play Gary Moore tunes, like The Loner and Parisienne Walkways. Get those amazing sustain and feedback sounds, without the need for finding that spot on the stage, and marking it.

If I had one gripe, it would be that it needs 2 9V batteries. One for the neck sustainiac, and another for the EMG. Carry a few in your gig bag. It seems like they also drain slightly even when you're not playing. This pretty much sucks.

Overall, the quality of this guitar is a solid 9/10, if not higher. The -1 point would be for the 2 batteries.

I had this guitar but eventually sold it. Amazingly good for metal music but leaves a little to be desired for non-metal music. Floyd rose on this is cheap - mine had sharp metal shavings on the inside that were breaking the strings - happened while playing a gig.

Sustaniac is amazing and it works flawlessly - I used it for soloing all the time - and for feedback purposes. Lots of fun. EMG 81 - well don't need to say anything about that. They rock.

Two batteries are another reason why I sold this guitar. If both of them die then you lose the sound.

Having said that I gigged with this guitar for 5 years or so and it's very well constructed - never went out of tune - Schecter is really good with bang for your buck. The guitar is made in Korea but is inspected in the US before it reaches the stores.

I have the fixed bridge c1 version, which has emg active pickups (81-85) and also on sale for $550 for anyone not looking for a tremelo. Fantastic guitar out of the box, but I did lower the action and throw light top heavy bottom strings on it:

I ordered the Sustainiac and then cancelled and will be picking up this instead. I'm getting back into guitar after a long hiatus and really don't need the sust, plus 9V batteries, etc. Fixed bridge at $150 cheaper will be way better for me although I did love the blood red color.

That guitar does use 1 9v battery for the emgs. It doesn't need two like the sustainiac + emg, but you still need a battery for the active pickups. (Wasn't sure if your quote assumed no battery at all so just to clarify)

I did assume no battery, thanks for clarifying. This will be my first guitar with EmGS

Guys the sustainiac concept is easy enough to understand but incredibly hard to execute. Don't go the sustainiac install route or you will end up mad.

This and one by Charvel are the only ones out of the box ready to go with too much balancing (How much the sustainac picks up, sends back to 2nd pickup and then picks it up again. That cycle has to decay as well not mushroom out of control like a nuclear chain reaction.

If you think working with a floyd is too much work for the enjoyment you get then this will frustrate the heck out of you. Its milli current balancing in a cycle.

I will not buy this because of personal ultimatums but get this if you want to experience the joy of long sustains without all the noise associated with Gain Pedals chained together which can give a similar effect.

Hope that helps.

Well said. Its a tool that can't be used everywhere like a tremolo arm or coil split. But then again when you need a tool like this there is NOTHING out there that can do what it does without significant noise induction.

I have a 7 string white Hellraiser, and I'm hoping a 6 string red Hellraiser goes on sale...that being said, this is very tempting instead.

They are "ship from store", which basically means they are floor models in the local guitar center. I would ask for more details and pictures before buying one of these.

This! The light top heavy bottom custom gauge strings are so perfect with my Schecter! Glad to see that feeling reinforced here.

Don't really need another guitar but the Sustainiac gimmick along with the set neck roped me in. Never owned a Schecter but all reviews looked really +, all components look top notch. Anyway had a ton of points to burn @ MF. Just waiting for a good deal, this seemed to fit the bill. Called them up and was able to combine them w/the pm. $567 otd. Can't wait to get it. Thank you sir for the MF heads up!

Like everything about it (I own 1) but I dislike the trem, it's just not durable over time. My hellraiser (granted 2x the cost) is a beast and has the floyd rose 1000 trem, never an issue flutters better too.

Sustainiac is fun for sure, haven't really "used" it playing out, but fun to experiment with for sure and drive my pets crazy.

I'm a noob - used to play when I was younger on a crappy squire. I was really looking at a PRS SE Holcomb, other used PRS SE or perhaps a well-used PRS S2 Vela or regular PRS S2.

This is in that price range too, but any idea how it compares?
I have an S2 24 fret and two Schecters (Nick Johnson HSS and SVSS). Very different beasts. Can't say enough about the Schecters, excellent build quality and the fretboards/necks are made to shred! Personally I play the S2 most as it's a great all-rounder. For a new guitar you can't beat Schecter price/value. Ultimately it's your preference - buy both from a seller that accepts returns?

Hey thanks, appreciate it. Realized I have no use for sustainiac as I'm re-learning and just bought the fixed bridge C1 Platinum from Guitar Center in-store @ $549 (on sale as well @ $200 off). Even used, PRS S2 were going for ~$850+ in my area and the SE Holcomb was $700 or so. This C1 is more than enough guitar for me and I'm saving a few bucks.

Does anyone have experience with ordering online for shipping from Guitar Center?

I bit on this deal a couple days ago, still no tracking or order updates. Paid via PayPal, which still says "authorization only until vendor completes order".

I don't know, just seems like a slower process than I'm used to when ordering something online.
