It has real benefits vs older 15.6"

16:9 vs 16:10, meaning you get more vertical space(screen is a bit taller). It's helps when you are reading/working docs, reading web pages, anything that you have to scroll down.
2nd benefit is you see less of that ugly bezel at the bottom of the display.
