This 7506 has very high ratings for sound quality, like it's predecessor the MDR-V6 (which I own). The shopper needs to be aware, however, that the coiled cord is heavy and therefore annoying to most owners. A better design would have been a normal straight cord that is replaceable in the event of cord damage (where headset has a 3.5mm jack).

3rd party seller, not direct from Wally. Can't return to store if you don't like it.

I own one of these and the coiled cable material is high quality and is not annoying to me. I like that it is very long and coiled, as it allows me to move around without taking them off. This is a refined product, if you don't like, it is most likely not made for you.

I have MDR V6, which is similar to this, with the coiled cord. Got it for about $50 years ago on a Slick Deal at Amazon. The coiled cord is awesome. It doesn't get in your way, extends when you need it to, and it's so easy to pack it away. sounds great too. I'd take it over a wireless headset any day.

Long live the V6!

My original pair is 35 years old. And save for some replacement pads, they are still going strong and still my go-to's.

Do you need an amplifier for these headphones? Any recommendations for an amplifier that matches the price of this?

No, they will operate fine without an amplifier. And if you want it to be Bluetooth compatible, just buy an adapter. They're pretty cheap. That allows you to have a cord and still be cordless.

Still rocking my MDR V6 that I got for $35 from the BuyDig deal here on SD years ago.

Now they're discontinued and going for hundreds of dollars.

Same here. My new wife at the time bought me the V6 as my first Christmas present in 1989. Still have them. On my third pair of cushions. The originals were really nice but start to "flake" off after awhile.

Yes, you can return most 3rd party stuff to the store, but it has to be packaged and ready to ship.

I own these, they are great. To vouch for the quality of these Andrea Bocelli and Ed Sheeran can be seen using these in their duet of The song Perfect in Bocelli's home studio.
