My group had lots of fun with the Warcraft version. So, I'm sure this one will be a fun one too.

My solution for that is not to play these types of games with people who dominate everyone else's turn. I haven't had to play this version though, and our group did fine with Pandemic original.

I haven't played any Pandemic games since the original. It is still a game where one person with a Chess-like mindset can command the whole group or are there mechanics that ensure each player has independence.

I hated having to "house rule" telling others "you may only suggest one move between turns. You can't say, as player A, that if Player B does X, and Player C does Y, that you'll be able to do Z. You can only take your turn, then if player B asks for input, you can instruct them on what to do." Etc etc etc

I was unaware telling someone it is not their turn was a house rule.

I never even knew this existed.
I'm hoping to try it out on tabletop simulator with friends, or some randoms soon. Our friend group has a very diverse work schedule.

Not much of a deal since its been this price for months. Still not a bad price if you want it now just don't do it out of fomo.

That being said, it looks like a solid reiteration and I plan on pulling the trigger after it drops a bit more. I have quite a few pandemic versions as well as all the legacy editions and they're fantastic.

Co-operative games are a little more complicated than Monopoly or whatever you usually play 😂

If you're a Star Wars fan or like Star Realms/Hero Realms, then give the new Star Wars Deck Building game a try as well.

What you're describing is commonly called "quarterbacking" and to the point made by Nessy, playing with folks who do that can take the fun out of it. Having cut my teeth on games like Arkham Horror first edition, it can be really easy to fall into the trap if the game starts to drag.

On the other hand, I also make it a point not to play co-op games with groups that need to be quarterbacked. When getting the group together, you know your crew and what their attention span can be. If they're not going to be able to stick out the long games (like a 5+ player Arkham Horror session), don't put the group through it. If they are not the type who like to think about their turns with the consequences of their actions in mind for their next move as much as others, don't play those games either. Two of my best friends don't like the playstyle of Pandemic, but really enjoy Zombicide because it's faster and more frenetic. Both are co-op, but I know who my crew is for either.

Well the original was supposed to be a coop game, so it makes sense that your partners are strategizing along with you.

Unfortunately, it's a unfolding puzzle and everyone figures it out at different times.

It's not a big deal, it's just a game I would only play when *I* was the dominate player; that way I knew everyone else was free to make mistakes and have fun.

My nephews and I had a hard time trying to figure the game out. It's not very intuitive, so be aware this game has a learning curve. At least we were able to get the original pandemic going in about 15 minutes. It's the instructions, the gameplay itself, or I'm braindead after too many years of being a degenerate but it took us 30 minutes to NOT figure out how to play this game.
