Yes, you have to be in the US to request the unlocking codes from Tracfone's unlocking website. TF websites cannot be accessed from outside the US. TF's security protocol blocks access from non-US IP addresses. Using US-based VPN servers would not even work.

I haven't tested this particular device but I do know that unlocked TF flip phones can be used internationally
Several months ago I was able to log in to Tracfone's website and request the unlock codes while being in overseas for a different phone, I was able to do so with a VPN, but since then and upon trying to go to Tracfone.com lately with a VPN - it's not working anymore, I tried a few VPNs and still not working.
Is there any other way to request the unlock through Tracfone while I am in overseas right now? The phone that I am trying to unlock was activated more than 60 days ago and it said that it will be eligible to unlock on September 15, 2023.

Does this phone have dual physical sim card slot?
I bought and sold a couple of these earlier this year. They do not have a second SIM slot (physical or eSIM)

Pretty sure it will. Metro is owned by T-Mobile.

I sent you a dm asking which very cheap VPN are you using to be able to actually log in to Tracfone's website while being overseas but you are yet to answer.
I am in overseas and I am using a VPN and Tracfone still is not allowing access even while using a VPN.
I'm not using a vpn. I'm using a VPS. That is an actual computer inside USA. I log into it, and then browse USA sites from it.

I just tried VPN with Windscribe. Tracfone site does not allow access via VPN, but the TFW Unlock Portal [tfwunlockpolicy.com] does after security check.

OP here. If you want, you can pm me your phone number or imei and email address (I think it asks for email, not sure). I'll request the unlock for you.

It looks like it has NFC according to Best Buy and Tmobile websites.

looks like it does SD card as well

and IP67 waterproof (which none of these low end phones have)

I own this phone cuz I wanted to give Samsung a try. I hate it so much it lives in the glove box as an emergency phone. It is the most bizarre phone I've ever owned it can be fast for a few minutes and then it can grind to a halt and also in my opinion the cameras suck and cameras are very important to me. I have a Moto g pure with only 4 gigs of memory and it outperforms this thing and cost 50 bucks. Go figure just wanted to give my opinion

I have a parent that has the Moto g. Overall good, but its been hanging lately and it appears to be working, but the cell doesn't work. No incoming calls or data. it needs a reboot to recover

Tracfone nuked one of my lines doing a transfer. Subsequent calls resulted in another line getting wiped out - probably 7 calls in all with a wide range of awful behavior by the CSRs. I filed an informal complaint with the fcc with screenshots of balance and time/date of each call + timeline of all the shenanigans. After a few weeks and a couple emails, a Tracfone rep that deals with fcc complaints calls and the problems are all fixed in about 10 minutes.

Why didn't they just fix it in the first place? You're correct they just don't care about fixing the problem once it falls outside whatever script they have. Any sort of common sense/logic falls on deaf ears. Their goal isn't to help you at this point, but make you give up through whatever means possible. The best recourse IS an informal FCC complaint which is very much free and was extremely effective for me.

Tracfone CSR is so horrible it should be criminal.
Thanks so much for your FCC complaint against tracfone. I filed with the BBB and it still took hours later and they didn't completely fulfill the complaint. I will go FCC next time thanks to you. I am sure there will be a next time.

screenshots don't mean anything for tracfone. They will blatantly lie to your face. FCC would only do something about it if you submit a formal complaint, which you'll be looking at $5k - $10k in fees.
Couldn't you sue them, after, to collect the fees and your time spent to solve the issue?
Seems pretty easy to prove your losses, since the losses you incur is very much given.
If people only think about is too expensive to fight injustice, the future just gonna be worse, and likely even harder to fight. Injustice is like a weed. Is a pain to pull it off, but you don't do it because is a pain to pull it off, and leave it, if you finally decide to do in the future, is gonna be a much harder pain than if you had pull it out in its infancy.

They were locked, but "free". I worked their system last year and got lots of bonus points by activating multiple cheap phones. I got about 3 of these phones for 20,000 points each. They unlocked after 60 days, which is when I sold them.

The deal is pretty much dead as of ~April of this year. Instead of 10,000 bonus points per new line, it is now only 500.

Try installing the Opera browser. It has a built-in free VPN you can enable.

I'm familiar with the dead add a line 10k promo. It's unfortunately gone but the 7k refer a friend is still up and running for some of us who has lots of friends who bought these yearly tracfone plans laugh out loud.

I'm more interested how much you got for your unlocked A53s. PM me if you want.

Back on this deal, I'm pretty sure this A53 + unlimited plan is a MM if SDer sells the A53 after unlocking it and gets to use an unlimited plan for another 10 months as well.
