Excellent price on the lens, though it's very slow at f/8.

Great if you're shooting from a tripod for non-moving subjects. Otherwise, you'll find yourself needing to compensate with faster shutter speeds and higher ISOs. For newer models like the R8, that's feasible. For older ones like the RP, you'll find it a bit more challenging to get an excellent-looking shot without compromises.

Thanks, I was waiting for it to get back below $400. It's a sharp long lens for outdoor use that won't break the bank. Canon has other spendy options for those who say it's not fast enough at F8.

Correct, only L glass comes with lens hoods.

I use this lens on my R7 to shoot pictures of eagles from a kayak, either still or flying over. It's an awesome lens for the price.
