Pick up in store (other similar priced options are OOS where I live).
Ship to store. No worries about it getting lost in mail, receiving an empty package, etc. (No other place near me has the ship to store option).
Trade-in credit for old Apple watch. Best Buy even gives credit for working Series 3 whereas Apple store does not. Other retailers I know of do not allow credit at all for older watches, and Apple only allows credit for the newer model watches.
Return directly to store if issue.
While it may go down a little more than this, keep in mind Best Buy allows trade-ins and pick up at store.
I have a Series 3. While you can get the battery replaced for around $80, this watch no longer gets updates. Has been a great value, and I paid this price for it 5 years ago. It is slow now though. I only use it for notifications, weather/time, pause/play, and to tap quick reply to messages. Will be a nice upgrade given the newer processor, large display, and useful health features.
The 9 basically has a better find my phone features, refined gesture (accessibility allows a similar action in older model watches capable of updates), brighter display, more memory, and updated processor. Love the new pink option and to buy with the Apple band of my choice! I think the x might even be a bigger update because it will be a ten-year edition, but some people need the watch now.
It is likely the glucose monitor feature will have to work in conjunction with an RX device like Dexcom. The blood pressure feature would be cool; I would have opted for the 9 if it had this feature. I don't know what else they could add.
But the stainless steel models with the Sapphire crystal vs aluminum with glass for the regular models is a huge difference.

Sometimes, you an catch a flash sale. We got two more series 3 for $99 that way one time about two years ago for the teens, but they sold out in minutes. What price do people think they will go down to?
I do think they will drop the price of the SE2 to around $200 or so. I've seen it go on sale several times recently for $219. My guess is they will try to clear out the new 7s, series 3, and SE1s. The series 3 latest software stops at 8. We are on 10 now.
I definitely think the 8 at $279 is worth the extra over the SE2 at the sale price of $219.
Nah, I disagree…
EDIT: actually, i see…it's Apple marketing at it's finest.

Now I'm wondering if there will be better deal closer to BF.
The current assistive touch way to "double tap" isn't great. I tried it when I saw all of the YT videos talking about doing it on older watches

I am planning to get an Apple Watch for my kids entering middle school, they have many more after school classes and extr curricular activities so want to be able to reach them if needed. I don't want to give them a phone, but a watch will cellular connection only. How do I do that? Do I have to buy the watch with cellular and it gets it own mobile number? Or do I have to get a new line first, and then attach this phone number via DIGITS?
Sorry never used a cellular watch before so not sure
Apple doesn't offer any credit for this model even in good cosmetic condition.

You would need the cellular model. I wish they would have had this option when my kids were younger. I would get them the SE2 model. This 8 is nice, but the only real difference is health features (great for adults). You can compare both the SE2 and 8 models on Best Buy's site. The SE2 goes on sale for $219 on a regular basis. It's possibly it will go a bit lower this holiday season, but I really look for them to push the SE1. You can probably get a great deal on the SE1 even now (they might be $149 at Walmart?), and this model may be perfect for your needs! Plus, kids can sometimes be rough on devices. Make sure to invest in a protective case whatever you buy.
Your carrier can provide more information regarding the cost of adding service to the watch. Try asking this question on Reddit in the r/AppleWatch forum. :-)
