Any difference in the actual enamel itself? As in, are there any dangers of using the China one vs. the US one?

The one made in china has spy chip built inside the enameled cast iron and it can collect your diet data

I don't think anything from walmart isn't made in China. I doubt they carry the new ones.

That said, if lodge found it a worthwhile investment to build an entire factory to do it in house, there was probably a reason.

Given these don't seem to be sold on Amazon, and they have a different shape than the Lodge cast iron that is on amazon, I think these are just chinesium with Lodge name on it. Reviews are mostly positive but lots mention chipping & cracking as you would expect of chinesium chinamel.

Go with the 5.5 qt, it'll get used more due to bigger size. I use mine a lot for jambalaya, soups, stews, etc.

I want one that uses the new enamel for like a 6qt one. Any tips on how to tell the difference?
