I was lucky to get impress from bed & beth. Right before their bankruptcy, I was able to get it around $580.
I was hesitating since there were several deals. One was express pro and the other was express impress.
Impress might be slower but tamping is built in. So much easier to make coffees. Biggest weakness of Breville machine is grinder but It still gives decent coffee. I went to homegood store and they are raised prices for Breville coffee machine by $50. Regular express version is $550 now.
Probably I made 400+ coffee by now and definitely I saved more money.
If you are really serious about coffee, one should get separate grinder and express machine but Breville is good machine for all in one.

I personally think its a better idea to buy separates. I went with a Barista Pro but like you said the grinder is the weak point. Not bad by any means but grinds were fairly inconsistent. Some shots were great, others not so much.
After switching to a DF64 and a Bambino Plus im getting more consistent shots.

I know the exact deal you did and those 2 machines were the only ones that did not sell out fast! So... I debated for a couple days and also did the same you did grabbing the express impress.
Honestly, it has been less than impressive and sometimes aggravating. The built in tamper is nice but the auto grind, for some reason, sometimes just grinds a ton too much. I just dont see how it could be my user error given how little there is to do here on the auto setting. It was also dumping the grinds into a corner for some period for who knows why...
Ultimately, I got it on a good deal, but if I was paying this current price I would not do it. Like others said you are better off buying separate pieces. I "knew" BBB was going under and needed to burn a GC so I am happy with my purchase, but if I paid retail I would be regretful I believe. It is a rabbit hole for sure, and there are some good discussions on past coffee deals!
Probably best to buy some other grinder as the build in grinder does just OKAY job. You probably want something like Sette 30 for a good entry level grinder.

I had some issues with auto grind. Honestly I've never corrected perfect adjustments so manually done it but finally I correctly tuned and auto grind is working good.

I saw bambino plus at Marshalls and thought about going grinder and coffee machine too but I just wanted simple solution since I don't want to be perfect barista at home hahaha.
My wife is not picky and I am a perfectionist so if I get into making perfect espresso shots…..
I know I will drop 1k for grinder and another 1-2k for express machine then my wife will kick me out of my house hahaha. If something goes wrong with impress… probably I will convince my wife and trying to spend 1-2k for good grinder and express machine together.
Surprised to see home goods raised $50 for Breville coffee machines. It means Breville sells well at those stores.
If you're looking for an all-in-one solution, this is a great option. But, if you're looking to spend $700-$800 and want the best possible espresso I recommend getting the Bambino (It's the same boiler and group head as the express) and spend your savings on a grinder. With your leftover money, you can get a Eureka Mignon Silenzio, Baratza Sette 270, Baratza Encore ESP, or a DF64 - all are vastly superior grinders and will get you much better espresso for the same money.
Does anyone know if it's better to just get the Breville Barista pro at the same price? Normally I'd assume this one is better since it's orginally higher, but after reading the comments about the grinder, I'm not sure!

As I said before, I considered pro too but I went to impress.
I am not picky about making perfect espresso. Also Breville machine will give decent espresso. Actually it's better than expensive espresso machine with less trained coffee shop employees,
Impress model is all about convenience and It's exactly same with express machine.
Pro model has better system but You will take more time with temping.
I set grinder and auto grinder feature is very nice since it will stop then using built in temping feature for once or twice and ready to pull espresso.
Honestly, I don't regret to get impress instead of pro.
I am okay with the grinder even though it's weak point since I will not compete or show off making perfect espresso every days. If I pulled 45ml, I just drink those coffees instead of making another shot for perfect 38ml espresso (around 25-30 second).

A few posts up is some good feedback. Unless the price of the Impress is lower then it is really not amazing. I am not looking for replicating starbucks, but on average this is a good machine but the convenience is often offset by its quirks. It definitely saves time compared to traditional puck prep, but honestly that is not that much of a savings for most, and then if you go down that avenue you need to consider the "all in one" machines where you just press a button etc. This unit kind of falls in a middle ground that probably will limit its popularity.

What location did you see bambino plus in Marshall's?
