Good deals. Would be good if it had a QHD or UHD monitor and a 1TB HD, but not a bad price point. Looks like you (or someone else, i can't remember) posted the other deal with the QHD, 1TB and it was $200 more. Interesting they have another deal (which i think you also posted) which was a lesser graphics card (3060), but QHD (and ironically, it would be harder to game in QHD with that graphics card, maybe for movies or something?).

bestbuy warranty extensiion is crazy expensive 3 year is $419 for this laptop, compare to amazon or ebay 3 years for 99-149.


7940 hs is average 8-10 % slower than 13700 HX

I think you have it backwards. It should be the likes of DELL of HP that give you that vibe. Acer, and likes of it are smaller companies that actually listens and do change their design to try to improve their products. I've got the Helios 300 and wrote my impressions of that laptop in this thread. I still think QHD wins out over 1080p 4070

What if screen does not matter (I mainly use external). How do they stack against each other performance and thermal wise.

I can speak to preformance on the 3060 only, but it's a pretty capable with an external, but it runs hot if you're putting much pressure on it. That being said, the specs on the 4070 are consideably better, and since it's got the same power draw, it probably runs cooler at the same settings.

When did I compare anything to Microsoft or Apple? I said Acer is as old as they are and have been doing this for years, they're not a small company!

The truth is, Dell is horrible, and HP has some fairly reliable products. Acer over the years has been horrible too.
