Just to piggyback on this.. it's the spiritual successor to the R635/646/655. It's not Mini-LED so the peak brightness is lower than its predecessor. The main complaints about this TV are its bad viewing angles, exaggerated colors and subpar upscaling of lower res content. Where it shines is that it gets bright, the blacks are really great on this TV, and it's great for gaming (very low input lag for a LED panel).
Most people believe the Sony X90 is the standard for QLED TVs (X95 is the perfect QLED but at that price you might as well step up to OLED) and at $300 less if you're deciding between the 2 you should go with the Q7 it's a no brainer. It gets brighter and has better contrast than the X90K. If you watch a lot of low-res sports I would maybe pick up a streaming device that upscales well like the new AppleTV or Nvidia Shield but other than that it's a great TV. Also be aware i'm comparing it to the Sony X90J/K since they're in the same price range not the newest L model.

Oops didn't realize this was the Q7 post. The U7K specs out higher in almost all categories but Hisense is a dumpster brand imo. High failure rate, terrible QA and non existent customer service. I would never put close to $1K into a Hisense

If you upgrade your TVs infrequently, it's worth noting that the Sony will likely last longer than the TCL given reputation and Consumer Reports estimated reliability. So that would cut significantly into the savings to either have to repair/replace the set or pay for an extended warranty.
I don't have hard numbers. But I've read enough recent complaints about 6 series TCLs failing after a couple of years to make me wary of buying any of their higher end units without an extra warranty.

I dealt with TCL recently and their CS sucked too. Thankfully costco took it back

TCL has a much better rep and actual customer service. Also i've dealt with Hisense's terrible motion handling and upscaling and it's no joke when I say watching soccer which is generally streamed at 720p was a terrible experience. At $1k I would put my money into the Sony X90 but at $700 vs $1k which is what this post is about I could give the Q7 a go. At this tier (120hz, QLED, 65", sub $1200) there aren't even many TVs worth looking at, it's TCL Q7, Sony X90 or Hisense U8K. The Samsung QN series for some reason decided to use IPS panels which really ruined their contrast and black uniformity which is why they aren't ever recommended

and you know this from owning Hisense and TCL and using their customer service?
Like I posted earlier ...based on the reviews the Hisense U8K and TCL QM8 are two horns on the same goat
Both have issues...just different issues
You make a good case for waiting out some clearance deals on the Samsung QN90B

You know you can go off of other peoples experiences right? Information gets compiled and that's how the general consensus gets formed. I follow a lot of the AV forums and Hisense is pretty much blacklisted for this reason whereas TCL being pushed as the budget king even though Hisense generally outscores TCL in TVs of the same tier.
The QN90 series has a huge issue with customers receiving bent panels so goodluck with that. X93L is the better buy

So you read some comments on the internet and considered it as absolute facts.
I understand now, and yet I have read the opposite of what you are posting and my personal experience speaks differently as well

Yet your 1 experience speaks louder than the experiences of thousands of others . I also had a Hisense U6G for a year and have posted about it in the past, it was not good
