One difference is the battery type, Lithium-ion on the river pro, so only like 800 charges. Vs LiFePO4 and over 2000 charges.

Still learning about these things slowly - why are they calling this a "solar generator?" From the post title l thought this was a power station and solar panel combo (& at 700W, a surprisingly powerful one at that) for a dirt cheap price, and was gonna jump all over it until I didn't see a solar panel anywhere.

because people are idiots. You are absolutely right, these should be called Power Stations. Yes, you can attach a solar panel to it, but it still does not 'generate' the power but simply stores it.

Guessing because people often use these for car camping or blackouts where you'd otherwise use a fuel generator. Using the same term helps suggest to potential customers that this is a useful product for them. Humans are, by and large, pretty stupid, and we're often too lazy to really think about things past the first impression. It's the same reason we call crossovers SUV's.

So basically, marketing.

If you think you could build one of these cheaper yourself, or just want a look inside, check out this teardown video. Basically, for starters you would need a 56 or 42ah LiFePO4 battery, MPPT controller and an Inverter. Or, about $210 to $230 just for the 3 basic items using the cheapest stuff I could find. (plus all outlets, case, charger etc. and time). The PS54 cost for everything, ready to go, w/warranty, is less than the basic 3 parts alone. The DYI method might only really cost less than retail built when you get into the $2000+ versions.

I always just assumed it was to sound fancier than simply "battery", but there is an implication of some additional built in hardware to manage charging and discharging through various means.
You can directly plug in a few solar panels into the unit, that's why they are called Solar Generator, because you can use them while they are being charged by the solar panels vs a regular gas-powered generator. They also markets this to be used outside, e.g. camping or with your mobile home like a gas-powered generator. You can have a 50amp adaptor directly plugged into this to power your RV.

Agree. Bluetti stuff is good enough for the money, especially when it's on sale. As a DIY hobbyist, you can definitely build something similar, but you will spend way more if you want quality battery, quality BMS, and a quality MPPT. Not to mention, your build may end up much bigger and heavier, and not look as nice as the Bluetti one. 😅

Not much on out there on this model in particular. What's the actual difference between this and the Bluetti EB55?
Only difference is the sheer panic that has settled at Bluetti once the same batteries are sold by Chinese competitors for half what Bluetti sold them for.

Gas "generators" actually work the same way. They just convert fossil fuel energy into electrons, and they need to be refilled the same way this needs to be recharged.

Can I use this common Renology solar panel [amazon.com] to charge these Bluetti units?

If so, what else do I need to buy to connect the solar panel to the Bluetti?

Thank you in advance.

Power Stations are simply glorified batteries. There is no generation going on. The solar panel is the 'generating' part if you are really suck on this silly analogy.

Neither PS54 or PS72 have a bypass mode to use them as UPS/EPS, right?
Is there anything in this price range that has that feature?

yes, that panel will charge these since it falls within the proper voltage and amp range. Nothing else would be needed since the unit comes with the proper MC4 to 7909 adapter

How does this compare to Pecron has PECRON E600LFP 1200W 614Wh LiFePo4 Portable Power Station for $299.

I second this question! Own the E3BA but just ordered the Pecron with the GOGREEN code directly from the Pecron website for $285. Specs seem better overall....?

Not "better than what I have"; better than the Bluettis being discussed, the 54 and 72?
