Is it a good brand? Absolutely. However this is not the one you want. Instead of the hot plate/glass carafe, you want the thermal carafe instead.

America's test kitchen did a big test on coffee pots YouTube has this (the one with thermal carafe) as the winner

I always found it strange that they put so much metal into every part of this thing, except where the coffee meets boiling water. I never could figure that out.

Temp loss to plastic is lower than temp loss to metal elements, so they can maintain more consistent brew temp across the length of the brew.

If you get the thermal carafe model, make sure it's the glass-lined carafe. Bought mine from Amazon and they sent me an older model and would only refund the purchase.

Good price for a great coffee maker. I bought one last year and I paid $275 from William Sonoma. It was the best deal I could find at the time. My 10 year old Cuisinart stopped working so I had to find a replacement ASAP. I'm very happy with it.

Had this machine for over 8 years. Love it. I used this more often than my $1000 Phillips machine.

Have 2 both with the big stainless carafes. I bought them both new on eBay and paid $220 each two years ago because the seller was a very reasonable person.
This is an excellent deal on the best drip coffee maker made.

Good price but that power switch isn't very durable. Mine broke after 2 years of light use. Was fixed under warranty but had to pay for shipping. You can't buy the switch and diy it. You have to send it in.

They make them in a range of colors, so it's not unreasonable to want a different look.

No it's much better to just pour this into a Thermos and keep this simple and easier to clean.

Don't worry about it so much, this machine does not ever bring the temps up to boiling, it only heats the water to the point of perfect coffee extraction. No boiling water ever touches plastic in this thing.
