Wow, this is a great price for an outstanding watch. With the 7 and Epix Pros out, it's no surprise that prices are coming down, but as a 7S owner (7X is too big for me), I've been thrilled with my Fenix. There are some extra goodies on the Pros (flashlight, etc), but for a decent smart watch with a non-AMOLD display (which I prefer) and impressive battery life, the 7X is hard to beat at this price point.
I was on the fence awhile ago between 6x Sapphire and 7x Solar. Ultimately went with the 6x Sapphire since it was like over $200 cheaper. The 7x does have the flashlight and I think upgraded heart rate monitor. I used to have an Instinct solar and solar charging was I think more of a marketing gimmick. You'd have to leave your watch in open sun for hours just to get a couple percentage battery. Probably mostly ideal for those that go camping for days on end without charging options.
The Sapphire option is definitely the way to go IMO, I've smashed my watch against walls, doorknobs, occasional rocks when hiking and not a single scratch - still looks like new. I'll probably wait for the 7x Sapphire to go on sale.
Anyways, my $0.02
Navigation, topo maps, color. There a lot of differences and you can compare the watches on Garmin's site. The instinct is basically a budget Fenix. I've had/have both and much prefer the Fenix series.

good price, too large for either me and my wife. she has the 7S size and loves it. I have the medium size - great. Can't imagine anything larger for everyday. We both have the saphire solars. Battery life on both is excellent.

The 7X non-pro (this watch) has a flashlight as well. Of the non-pros, the 7X (and not the 7 or 7S) was the only one to get a flashlight - assuming either due to size constraints on the smaller watches or battery constraints.
I have a 6X Sapphire - considering this basically just for the flashlight lol and the solar capabilities. But if this was sapphire solar, would def jump on it.
Okay, I'm just going to take Google's word for it that the only significant difference is the display. Doesn't seem like only a color display is worth $300 extra to me in this case.
Same. I have the 6x pro and really want to go with sapphire next time. I had an Instinct 2x for a while and the flashlight (torch on Instinct) was nice. I've waiting this long so might as well wait until deals start popping up on the sapphire version.
