Does not contain the labeled quantity of active ingredient in the majority of tests performed by independent labs. YMMV.
NSF certified: tests for harmful levels of contaminants and certifies that supplements contain the ingredients listed on the label and nothing else.
oversize pills: At best you are consuming mostly binders and flow agents which are claimed to be inert.
Serum assay tests proved to my doc that fake Vit D3 dominates the market. Every 90 days for two years a serum assay test revealed no improvement even as daily dosage was increased from an alleged 5,000 i.u. daily to 25k with multiple brands. Only after switching to verified cholecalciferol D3 powder in a micro-capsule was the deficiency resolved at a 5k daily dose. SUNDOWN was one of the fake vitamins.
What to look for: The Puritan Pride garlic extract arrived from the last deal missing the seal. The taste test is a good indicator and is easy with powder or liquids in gelatin caps.
Fish oil: A well known quality test for fish oil is to break open in cup of warm water. Oil should not have a rancid taste or odor. How many capsules are required for an alleged dose of 1 gram of DHA or EPA or combination thereof? Cheap fish oil has a high risk of both rancidity and contamination from heavy metals and pathogens. Molecularly purified is best but extremely expensive. Sardines harvested from clean waters are a safer choice
Any unpleasant side effect after taking a supplement on an empty stomach is a red flag especially if not observed on an alternate brand or previous order.
