Raster is king IMO. Raster works on every game, and thus in that sense future proof, unlike all the variations of upscaling or frame gen. Also the higher the resolution (for upscaling) or frames (for frame gen) you have the better these things work, so these things are not replacements for raster. Also if you want to buy a card today that will last you 3+ years while using the highest texture quality in your games I wouldn't buy anything below 16gb of VRAM. If you want Nvidia tech I would wait it out for the 4080 price to drop. Also gives you time to see how well things like DLSS 3.5 are actually implemented in future games.
The 4070 got a lot of negativity at launch (why does this even exist?, etc)
But, its a really solid card, especially coupled with access to the latest DLSS features. At this price, I would certainly recommend over any AMD offerings at the same price point, or a used/refurb last Gen card.
It's because its was a crappy deal at $600 and it's still not a good deal unless your doing production work or care about Ray Tracing. The 7800Xt is cheap, generally faster, and has 16gb ram
I was thinking the same thing. I'd just hate to plunk down $500+ and run a decent chance of it cracking.
Most of the problems reported previously are likely due to people not using the mounting/anti sag brackets according to instructions.
If you are worried, get the Gaming OC version (higher quality according to reviews) and you get a 4 year warranty if you register the card within 30 days. It's only $8 more once you factor in the instant $40 discount card.
