I'd rather settle for a 77" OLED even if it costs slightly more than this.. but that's just me
Since Sony implemented mini-LED backlighting, their FALD TVs appear to now be just as good as the X95 series pre-mini LEDs, and the reviews seem to suggest as much with this one. Hoping that last year's X90K was more a fluke.

I have the 75" X95G FALD from 2018, and it's the best non-OLED TV i've ever had. This is quite a good deal, because all specs considered, when it comes to Sony, the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts (e.g. contrast, nits, color gamut, color volume, shadow detail etc.), which is what Sony is known for.
IThe 85" x90K was on clearance for $1699 for months and not moving stock at all. If you can find the 85" x90K version on clearance for under $1300 is a much better value. I'm surprised it's actually discounted this much this quickly, but I'd guess Black Friday will have very similar pricing. The best value is still when these tvs go on clearance next year.

This seems like a steal, will this really go lower on Black Friday?

I own the 55 inch X90L. It's pretty sweet. The colors and focus on shadow detail is top notch. It's built in speakers are probably the best stock speakers I've heard when it comes to dialog.

This assertion about current FALD Sonys being as good as previous generation x95 series is interesting and I'd like to learn more. Any sources, or just based on review numbers across generations?

That's the X90CK from 2022, this post is about the X90CL, from this year. Not a bad price on that one though, but I'll probably wait a bit longer

Impulse bought a SONY XR75X9 75" tv last weekend at Costco on clearance for $899 with 5 years warranty and it's still sitting in the box unopened in my garage. Ideally want an 85" tv, so wondering if this is deal is worth the extra $1200 or should I just settle for the 75" tv that I bought?

Ok looking for a new TV ideally before Sunday. One tv died and another is having issues maintainining connection to wifi. I couldn't find the 77" Sony OLED near me but they did have the xr85x90ck for $1K, seemed like a good deal but didn't pull the trigger, going to try one more Costco tomorrow for the 77" OLED.
I was confused though why the KD85x80ck was$1599, I thought the x90ck was the better TV.
