Is it just me or am I alone when I think that paying lots for TV's isn't very effective anymore. All of them get burn-in, horizontal lines, juttery motion after 2 years. Yet I have a 58 insignia TV i got from bestbuy for $150 several years ago that is outlasting one I paid big money for just a year ago. I think I'm just going to go for el cheapo ones and 5 year cheap warranties so i can return/replace it when/if it dies. Give me the $500 75 inch toshiba fire tv instead of bragging rights of 120hz & whatever else.
It's just you.

My thinking is that this means you are an atypical user

Picture quality is not your primary concern
Your thinking assumes too much and is flawed. As mentioned, I would like nothing better than to have another OLED ( because the picture is superior... at least currently).

In point of fact, I have decided to compromise my picture quality only to avoid dealing with another burn-in issue.

At least my compromise is partially offset by running DV ( or HDR+) and Atmos through my modded Kodi/Shield. Very immersive.... if not totally satisfying.

I may be atypical user but there are others just like me who deserve to know how best to handle similar usage, instead of assuming they should not consider burn in as a possibility

OK....so you agree with what I said ,in the first place, and then give further detail why

Thanks

There are VERY few TV's that I would call expensive these days...and none of them ever hit slick deals

Check out what even a midrange TV was 10 years ago and see how the prices have crashed...and that is not adjusted for inflation

I once paid $2800 for a 58" Samsung plasma...and that was considered a HOT deal at the time

You are not alone. Same here. LG OLED died after 5 years. INSIGNIA from 6 years ago taking a beating and still good. I am staying away from OLEDS and LG. Mind you the OLEDS now may be a new gen, but the one I had had severe burn in. It seems like this is still the issue.
I miss the old plasma days with Kuru. They were amazing at that time.

I just started looking at TVs right before BF and it seems the 85" X90L stay at $2k since September. I just ordered one from Costco last night and saw it in person today at BB. Really happy with my decision. It's a Xmas gift to my father who loves watching TV.
