Keep in mind that Rtings reviewed the 65" panel, which has a VA panel (higher contrast ratio and narrower viewing angle). Rtings weighs contrast highly, hence the overall rating of 7.1. The 86" in this thread has an IPS panel (lower contrast ratio and wider viewing angle). It will perform closer to the newer UQ8000 (IPS panel) but with 120Hz.

Is it big? Yes. Is it underwhelming? Also yes.

review of TV, seems okay, not great, but <1000 for 86 have to keep expectations in check.

Tempted but I read that LG make horrible LED LCDs. Can anyone verify? Obviously not expecting it to be the same caliber as a $2k-$3k TV.
I had a lg with va panel that was pretty nice, I think most the problems stem from ips panels which make the blacks look more greyish. I did eventually upgrade to Sony x900h and it blew the lg out of the water for picture quality

Saw this as my 2 yr old (out of warranty) Samsung died. Thinking of pulling trigger. This was on sale for $1199 yesterday.

Based on the RTINGS I purchased. It seems like a great value at 86". Not OLED, not a great viewing angle, but you won't find that for 1K.

I brought similar version( can't remember the model but it was 86' inch lg ) last year during BF, my overall experience is just fine TV, the viewing angle is little non noticeable pixelated I felt which never bothered me honestly at this price point, but my 3 year old accidentally hit with hard piano toy which completely made it non use now, I mean when the tv is off I don't see any cracks on the screen but when switch on I see visible cracks with no moving visuals and only sound …the warranty does not cover the accidental damages…so not useful for me anymore…was planning to replace it not sure if I should wait until better deal for BF?

The size is tempting but I think I would pass this deal and look at the Sony 75inch that's going to be on sale in a week for same price. Yes it's smaller but I guarantee that the picture and motion will be a lot better, it also has a couple 2.1 hdmi inputs incase u game.

Agree that the picture on the Sony will be a lot better, but to be fair... this 86", like the Sony, has a native 120Hz refresh and two HDMI 2.1 ports.

Wow exactly what happened with my Lg. The Allstate extended warranty also doesn't cover it.

Im personally waiting until BF. With TV prices getting lower and lower I'm thinking that there are going to be some insane BF deals this year.
