I think the Gateway at $300 might be a better option, I got one in Microcenter for $230 open box. It has 12th gen i7, Touchscreen IPS FHD, RAM is only 8GB but the 12th gen CPU more than makes up for it.

Nothing in the description about the display tech so presumably be worst possible TN panel with perhaps 200nits of brightness (sponsored by optometrist)

That $230 price point is very tempting for my kids for school work. But I fear the durability of it..... Anyone have a Acemagic laptop??
They want touch screen. haha

Is this the same one on Amazon?! The price difference!

You could find a used Dell Latitude in that price range and it'll have better durability for school. Had a Latitude D630 while in school and it still functions to this day.

Here's a better price comparison listing at $310 AC. Actually quite a few reviews there.

yes, i saw that one, too, and sold by acemagic as well. i picked the most expensive one to show the company's pricing is all over the place.....

but i'm pleasantly surprised that the cheapest right now is to buy directly from them! does that mean they are upcharging all other places?? Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Nothing in the text that I saw, but two photos show IPS. I had to order one just to check it out at that price, so I'll see soon enough.

Their website seems like a temu or alibaba or something. Sketchy

Also see discount if you buy 2, but does not stack with code so you have to place 2 separate orders if you want more than one.

Also SSD does not appear to be nvme.

How's the Alder Lake N95? Isn't that a Celeron replacement?
Its just e-core only version.

Possibly not NVME, but I doubt it. These look like the same system architectures as their mini PCs, only different form factor and KB+ screen. So I think they would also use the same drives. May cost a few cents more, but easier to QC, build, and support.

Edit: If you scroll down to the really bold area is states "512GB NVME SSD"

Good eyes, ordered for the heck of it. Could return if terrible.

Yeah, but it's about 25% faster than the Celeron N5095. The biggest limitation is that it only has one memory channel. It's pretty much using the E-cores of modern Intel CPUs. Good enough for an office PC.

Ace seems to a be a mixed of Gateway specs and Motile metal chassis/single channel RAM. Great value

Stacks up nicely against other fast bargain laptops under $300 with 16gb ram, 512gb sata ssd, wifi 5, IPS

$230 Ace has 7th Gen spec(aka 280hp) with IPS, B grade build quality. 5 hr battery life, slow 200mbps wifi

$205-255 Gateway 14 (500hp), C grade build quality. 8 hr battery life, 400mbps wifi

$220 Dell Latitude 7400, 5400 has 10th Gen (400hp), A grade build quality. 14 hr battery life, 400mbps wifi

Looks like you're right on the money:
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mob...436.0.html

It's a bit better than the best Celeron, but it's worse than an i5 from seven years ago.

At least the RAM isn't soldered!

I care A LOT about numpads. So if I needed something cheap and extra, it's reasonable for me.
