Quest 2 was sold at a loss and subsidized by Facebook (the company). Quest 3 is not.

As a VR studio owner and developer, it is worth it. Completely different machine and capabilities. As long as you don't need face/eye tracking which is highly use case dependent, then this is the way to go. It will be the market leader for at least a year or more and they won't refresh for at least 18 months or two years plus. Also, it has the biggest free roam library with their storefront which also still able to play all PCVR games wirelessly.
It really will be the best all around headset on the market and that doesn't even cover the boom of MR games that are going to come with this. All of us are rushing to make games for this emerging market. $499 ain't a bad price.

I know this is a big jump in price. The Quest 2 was released at $299 and then had it's price increased to $399 (which was ridiculous imo). I don't know if the Quest 3 is worth another $100 raise to $500 but hoping some here can find the $50 discount helpful.

If anyone's tired of waiting you can get 10% back on Raukten through qvc.com. They charge shipping but there's also a Holiday code for $15 off. You can try Holiday20 for 20 off but it might not work with Raukten per the terms.

Add in 5% back from PayPal freedom chase rewards.

Thanks for the alternative. I'm going to wait a few days and worse case, I take advantage of the 10% rewards with BB's credit card. That's $50 in rewards vs $50 off + $25 in rewards on the first day of reservations.

Thanks. The BB rebate is $50 (10%) so that's probably the better option for me as I can probably use that to buy the elite head strap a few weeks after the rewards kick in.

I haven't received this one but have gotten them in the past as a cardholder and was able to "work it." Years ago I got a code on my cardholder anniversary, valid for 10% off but only valid during December. The code started with a Dec. I was curious and changed the Dec to a Jan in January, Feb and then Mar in their respective months, and they all worked. Pretty sure Apr didn't work lol and that's when it ended. This code seems similar in nature.

The restrictions were not valid on sale items or preorders - there may have been more but those two I remember.

These codes are specific to the recipient who has a Best Buy credit card. I'm pretty sure once they get out, they work for anyone with a Best Buy credit card. Based on the products they work on, they aren't really intended to be used in a mass-way. For instance, the past few years the code "jul22ccsave10" or "jul23ccsave10" worked on things it wasn't supposed to. Products that have very strict discount rules, like a new Macbook Pro or Oculus 2. As time goes on, it becomes easy to guess what the next code is, like aug22ccsave10, sept23ccsave10, and so on. I was able to use this combo a few times last year, but now they are impossible to guess. Looks like Best Buy figured it out and made the rules tighter for them. I would always shake my head when someone posted a brand new expensive item here and say "this can be used on anything!" I'm sure BB looked at monthly purchase reports and identified that products with strict discounting rules were being discounted on Bose, Apple, DJI, etc...all the stuff that demands a strict MSRP.

Anyhow, looks like the party is over now that this is circulating on SD. Oh well.

Would be the thing to put me over the edge on this....seems a bit gimmicky and would collect dust fairly quickly after the novelty wears off...hopefully not though

I thought the same but many times I didn't receive the code in email and the code worked. This go around the code works for me for many items but just not the quest 3. The code did work when the pre release came out but that stopped the following day.

Rats I bought a Quest 3 to ship home from bestbuy but I didn't use my bestbuy credit card as I spent most of the on reward coupons. Is there a way to use the code now for cash back? I technically haven't opened the box yet.

May have to be a return and rebuy type thing but you can call support to explain to see if they can help.
