To what? I believe it's already 120m (393ft) in the US and it's not a terrible limit. Still plenty flyable.

Lots of cool new features but the Mini 2 is still a great inexpensive drone that I don't have to worry about crashing. Found some "4000mah" batteries on Aliexpress that give it closer to 40 minutes flight time for $65 bucks.

Legally I don't believe in the US you're allowed to fly above 400ft.

Damn it's tempting to upgrade from a mini 2 tho im debating whether i actually want this remote. With the phone all pics are so easy to transfer and upload without having to connect another device to do so...hmmm

I would advise people living in Europe to be aware of the new regulations that's coming Jan 1st 2024 that limits this drones max altitude

What's it take to transfer to a phone? Can it be done wirelessly or do you have to tether?

Tbf to him you are technically limited to 400 ft in many parts of the country, especially urban areas, but you can just override it in the app. You could technically get in trouble for that however. The new European rules however would enforce a hard limit. Obviously as of yet it won't affect us here but if we were to take a drone from here to there I presume it ll be equally geo locked to enforce that limit.

Interesting. Not sure I'd trust sending it up in the air with Ali batteries in it but I'll def look into it.

I agree it's still a great drone but I also use it for some work activities and the lack of active track, avoidance sensors and relatively poor dynamic range of the cam have certainly made that work a bit more challenging than it might need to be. Especially in urban flying I've had more close calls with buildings and trees than is good for my heart so to speak. Either way ill wait to see if prices drop in 6 mos or something. By that time we should also know whether any major hardware or software issues came to light.

Can be done wirelessly but since the phone in that case already is connected to the drone to act as a display, you can more or less seamlessly switch to having it download pictures from the drone onto the phone (it already caches low res automatically during flight if you turn that on). The remote with the built in screen is obviously more convenient from a get up and go perspective however if you just want to get a drone into the sky quickly. So its a bit of a catch 22 perhaps.
