What are your consensus if you have the lightning case? It's kinda frustrating there's no option to trade in the case at Apple easily. I know, Apple needs to make every penny off of us. I just don't find it environmentally conscious in that regard.

Trade in-values at Best Buy is $40, which is something for someone who isn't going pass off the old set. If you got someone who wants to take the old set, I mean, you just clean it and give them new rubber buds. That utility's greater than $40, imo.

I have pro 2's with the lightning case. Both my phone and tablet are now usb-c with the new iPhone coming out, so it's a bit annoying that I can't simply upgrade or buy a standalone case, but my 2's simply aren't old enough to justify buying a whole new set.

I'll either carry around the lightning cable when I travel, or just use wireless charging. I currently only wirelessly charge the AirPods at home so that doesn't change much.

In my opinion, they aren't worth the upgrade. The lightning port on my first Gen. charges fast enough. I don't use a wireless charger, but maybe that's something you prefer. I'd wait until the AirPods Pro 3rd Gen comes out.
