I also have the non-misting version from the last time it was on sale and it's a pretty solid unit so far.

To answer some questions from the previous forum post:

The battery is not removable (like it appears to be on the misting version) and you can charge it and use it at the same time.
The USB port on the side does charge external devices but everything I plugged into it said "Slow Charging, Check Cord" and indicated that it would take 6+ hours to charge or something like that.
The fan has an infinitely variable speed control and is inaudible on the lowest setting and moves a lot of air on the highest setting.
The four-bar battery meter seems a little off and the fan will run a very long time before going from four bars to three then two then dead in rapid succession.
The blades on mine were ever so slightly off balance so it does shake/oscillate a little on some speed settings but that doesn't bother me.
Build quality seems above average with a mostly metal frame and metal blades and the motor seems to be high quality (no whines, hums or rattles).

Overall, I really like the fan and I might buy another.

I have the non-misting version and like it. I wish it didn't require a special charger, but oh well.

Same here. I'd buy 3 or 4 more if it was USB C but I guess it's 26.5 volts for a reason.

Bought the non-misting version last time. I've briefly checked it out at home and it seems really nice, except I'll second the wish for a non-proprietary charger. I suspect it will get lost at some point. I wonder if it might be possible to charge it from USB with some kind of adapter, even if slowly. We're going camping this coming week and it's supposed to be pretty warm, so it'll get a good workout.

I didn't even know there was a misting version. I'd have much rather had that, but probably not enough for the expense of a new one and having to store it.

Any idea if this will operate while plugged in? I'm looking at using it in my garage. Being able to leave it plugged in and only unplug it when I need to take it with me would be a huge plus.

edit... apparently someone answered my question at the same time I was posting it

It definitely runs when it's plugged in. I haven't left it running long enough to ensure it's not just running off the battery. The guy above said you can charge it and use it at the same time.

According to a reply above, yes it will run while plugged in

The misting version seems to come from the same manufacturer as the Geek Aire version that Costco has, minus the extra battery. With that said, the batteries seem interchangeable.

I bought the misting version a few days ago at this price and I'm very happy with it. Definitely a good deal at this price.

The model numbers also follow the same pattern: Costco : FE40-DBP HD: #FE30-DM

I got the non-misting version from a similar deal a few weeks back. Main benefit for me is that it's a DC fan, so it's basically silent at lower speeds. Great option for near a TV if you don't have a ceiling fan.

Didn't think I'd use the battery powered part as I just wanted a quiet fan for my at-home work desk area, but being able to just unplug it and put it somewhere else has come in handy a few times. Just yesterday I used it after mopping the kitchen to speed up drying.

I got one of each from Home Depot last month. Confirming that the none misting version doesn't have the removable battery.

This is a great fan for camping and for using during summer swim events for the kids.

I've bought 2 and they are worth the money at 40 bucks! High speed last 4.5 hours and super quiet with metal blades and cover. Charges fast and for $6 you can purchase extra two years warranty for 3 years total.

Infinite speed sounds dangerous. Not sure I'm ready for a floor fan that relies on quantum mechanics
