My family prefers side by side vs french door. My parents can't bend over due to back/knee in order to take things out of the freezer in a French door. Also, it's hard to pull things out of the bottom of the freezer bucket, have to move everything on top first. It's hard to tell what's down there in the books and crannies of the freezer bucket. Side by side, there's many shelves so can stay more organized and can peek all the way to the back most of the time.

For us... The freezer section is more convenient to find things stacked up shelf by shelf.

Bought for $1300 in April 2022. Would recommend as as a no frills reliable fridge. We like side-by-side over French door because you don't have to bend over and hunt for stuff. More room and access for bigger frozen items.

Q: why would anyone get a side by side over a French door? Just seems inconvenient.

i prefer french door but for my kitchen and the way the countertops are positioned, a left opening refrigerator would be the best choice for optimizing space. with a french door i have to pull them out far past my countertops so that the doors don't swing and hit them whereas if i just had the doors open one way there'd be no countertops to hit on the other side of my kitchen

I have side by side & prefer it over french door which seem more inconvenient for me.

Good price.

That's a good benchmark. I will wait until it comes down.

In the market for fridge however we dont use freezer space. We need more refrigerator space. Will it have more space than the top freezer old styles ones ?

We have a very similar Whirlpool fridge now (previous version). I hate it and can't wait for it to finally die. The ice maker has broken three times. The water dispenser has broken twice. The ice dispenser paddle does not work right and it will just randomly spit out ice all over the floor. Things in the back of the fridge freeze over. Did I mention how much I hate this fridge. I prefer a side-by-side and am planning on getting a GE the next time it goes on sale. I don't trust LG and definitely don't trust Samsung.

For some reason, french doors seem to break more🤷 .

Half the price would be a good reason.

What does this even mean?
Probably means it's not an overpriced subzero. This is a great fridge and I bought it for a little less in 2018 (or a model that looks identical). It has performed perfectly and for the money I can replace it 3 times and still have spent less money than a subzero where I can't find that refrigerant anymore for the compressors when they fail. Only drawback is the overpriced water filters.
