Dell Alienware Aurora R15 Desktop i9 13900KF, RTX 4090, 32GB Ram (5200MHz) SSD 1TB for $2513.69

Full price at $3799.99.... now on sale $2849.99 with 25%. Apply 10% off with email sign up code, and ARMMPPS for additional 2% off. Should be $2513.69 prior to tax. Another additional 2% if you know where to look.

DONT FORGET to free upgrade the 4800Mhz to 5200MHz for the Ram.

FYI, this one is liquid Cryotec Cool. two weeks ago this same spec with Cryotec Cool would go for $2999.99, not $2849.99. Dont know much differences between Cryotec Cool vs regular liquid cool. But I believe this model is 240mm liquid cool with meshed side panel....... earlier model came with solid side panel, air cool or 120mm liquid cool.... I guess thats where a lot of bad review on overheating is from.

Agreed, I sent mine back due to this and the XMP capability is broken in the latest bios.

I had the 4080 cryo version.. The CPU is pure ASS CHEEKS. They did something seriously wrong with the all core frequency. It throttles well before it's thermal limit. Had terrible cpu bench scores and terrible 1080p bench scores. If you only 4k game and don't mind an I9 performing like an i5/ slightly weaker I7 territory it's pretty decent deal. The gpu will score very well. And I did get a stable 7000 CL34 ram to work

Ah, you're going to try and redefine what meteor lake is. I didn't expect that move.

14th gen is meteor lake. Meteor lake uses tiles or chiplets or whatever word you want to use to describe non monolithic.

Also, I never said anything about september. It'll start shipping in December or January.
I'm not redefining Meteorlake, it's always been a "chiplet" design as part of a new architecture departure from Alderlake, Raptorlake, and Raptorlake-R. The question being addressed here is whether it would be a CPU you can socket into a desktop component for 14th Gen. Also today's latest GN hardware recap the answer is no, it's only available in what Intel calls AIOs or what we call NUCs or laptops, it's a mobile architecture that's soldered directly to the board. The confusion seems to be "14th Gen" has both architectures under the same generation, RPL-R for consumer Desktop (same "i9/i7/i5" naming scheme, will be the last time they use "i") and Meteorlake (Core Ultra naming convention) for mobile segment. RPL-R should be dropping on October 17th so it won't be long until you can verify.

Meteorlake on mobile is slated either late December or early Q1 as you say.

The PS is in fact platinum, and the board is in fact a Z790.

I didn't read past that, since it looks like you didn't have any actual facts.
Isn't this a z690?

https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...aurora-r15

I don't think this is a typo either, multiple reviews mention it being a z690 and one specifically called it out in the review (not just the spec table)... Can't for the life of me find that review though... Read way to much about this PC in the last few days.

Most A.I. / LLM tasks are memory limited. I'll wait to upgrade my two 3090s until I can get 32gb of VRAM in each card.

Holy cow.. people using the words trash and garbage... avoid these posters. I bought an HP Omen 2080 super with an i9 around 5 years back where the similar posts did the same thing. The computer has been on 24/7 in my closet.. never an issue.. and with many many gaming hours.
Also ram speeds can effect active/desktop performance but at fractions of seconds.. but not in average framerates in games so don't get so hungup. Also fan noise can always be dealt with if it ends up being a problem.
These Dell/HP/Lenovo/Alienware prebuilts may not be ideal for every part in the pc but for your average person it's the only route, the last PC I built was in the mid 90's.. I think it was a Cyrix system. It can be very tedious.

I see a lot of negative comments. I don't have it in me to build my own PCs anymore and would like to get a pre-built. To those posting negatively about this deal, can you point me in the right direction if I wanted to get a premade Gaming PC with GOOD thermals?

I think a lot of the negativity is out of proportion. This R15 can run hot but it has shown in a ton of reviews to benchmark very well in gaming. There are faster/cooler prebuilt PCs with the same core components, but right now they are all more expensive. It's going to be up to you with what you think are acceptable trade offs for this cheaper PC. I think this guy does a pretty good job reviewing prebuilt PCs, here's a link to his review of this machine https://youtu.be/n47Sra-c3yk?si=MRjJkiLv1nCMf3YN

any of these could help with thermal
1. getting a less powerful PC
2. get an AMD cpu
3. get a more powerful AIO cooler.... 360mm for high end CPU.

Why on earth would you need your cpu to have an igpu in this build? 4090! 4090! Are you crazy?
Intel cpus have a feature known as "quick sync", which is essentially a dedicated hardware core for video encoding, transcoding, and decoding. This dedicated hardware only exists on intel cpus with the igpu, meaning f-sku cpus do not support quick sync. While you can use nvenc with a nvidia gpu for hardware encoding/transcoding, nvenc and quick sync not directly comparable, and there are certain workloads where one or the other may be greatly superior. Since one of the primary use cases for a cpu with extremely high multithreaded performance such as the 13900k is video editing, the lack of quick sync is a highly pertinent.

I have an Alienware Aurora R5 that I use every day that is still going. Its been on like 12 hours a day since 2016 when I got it and its still going. I don't see what the problem is here with alienware. I might not get a R15 because I am seeing threads everywhere that they have lots of problems. Particularly with the fans activating in sleep mode. Sleep mode works fine on my R5.

I do agree that the R10-12 and R13 have some serious problems and you shouldn't get those but honestly the R15 is fine and so is the R16.

I've priced out systems and its definitely more expensive to build your own from scratch especially with graphics card prices.

I haven't seen anyone post problems with the R16, I will be shopping for one of those soon. It seems dell fixed a lot of its problems with the R16.

"believe", very scientific... https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...ilies/wink.gif

I've owned every model of Alienware R back to 7.

Last model did get hot, my current R15 has been cool as a cucumber even under intense use. Whatever they did this time around worked. For me at least.

Cheers!

So, my experience with last year's model, recognizing that the case design is the same, and there is also the matter of just the one fan... this is not enough for me to draw an educated guess? Ok Mattlock.

Like I said, you "believed" instead of know...

Maybe do a google search and you'll see the INTERNAL design was improved with heat sinks on the motherboard and additional vents in the case that greatly increased airflow and cooling...

Cheers...

Bro, I don't need to Google what they changed about the case. They added some vents on the side but the top design is still restricting airflow. There is only one fan pushing air into the case. Your statement of "Greatly improved" is exaggerated and sounds suspiciously like an advert. I will, however, change my opinion about this PC to "Over priced hot box". That is a fact and relies less on my opinion. How about that?

Mine is scheduled for 10/24 shipment and went into production on 10/10.

In other news, it'd be nice if people who don't own a product would go and comment on deals involving products that they do own. Because if you don't own it, all you have are opinions. That are probably wrong.
