I can't believe they still only give you 8gb of storage. And it's basically gone after 4 app installs 🤦 ♂️
You know you can add an external thumb drive for as much memory as you want, right? I do that for apps and for downloaded movies and tv content to move to my media server.

You jut buy a cable off amazon for like $4 that plugs betwen the power supply and the power port that gives you a USB port. add a multi USB and you can use a real keyboard and mouse as well.

I plugged mine back up last night. No offers then, but I thought it might need to sync with the servers, need an update, etc. This morning I rebooted for the update. Still no ad right now.

It took a couple days for my old Rokus to show the $15(?) 4k express plus ads last year. I'll leave the firestick in for a while.
You don't need a banner. Code is either FTV23 or 4K23. If neither work, you are not eligible

I have to say I tried a Roku and the user experience is night and day better. The biggest issue is password management and Roku has it right with doing it once on one device and the rest of them will remember. If you ever have to change your Amazon password be prepared for the biggest nightmare ever to redo wifi and password on every single Amazon device in your house.
Not hard, just tedious. But a good benefit for a starting choice. Does not motivate me to get rid of the in-place Amazon ecosystem. That would be wasteful. It's not like Amazon PW updates are necessary every month or two.

Is there any advantage of third gen cube vs latest 4k Max stick? The wifi support and storage is the same. Firecube has 7.x os vs 4k Max has 8.x. Processor is still faster one on the firecube but if people were satisfied with 1st gen firestick max then does it really matter if the cube has more advantage here? Debating whether it's worth holding out till BF for the third gen cube price to go down or use the trade in the upgrade discount now to switch to latest 4k max. Coming from original 4k firestick.

I have 2016 Fire TV (the 4K square box smaller than cube). One reason I am considering a swap is since 2016 device will be start getting no support soon (Fire OS version it can support will be old). But it works OK and has slot for sd card without need for any additional dongle. Need some comments to help with decision. The storage is comparable and how much is chip upgrade I cannot assess.
The 2016 device also sits on table instead of attached to TV which fits my setup.

I'm done with firesticks. Ever since they started putting the bulk of development into limiting what can be customized. Get an Onn 4k or a Shield. Even a Chromecast with Google TV is a better option.

Exactly. The first FireTV from ten years ago had an SD slot. (Full version, not the sticks) I've uninstalled everything but the basic streaming and Netflix and Tablo both refuse to update now due to low space.

Swapped to this awhile back for my living room. Absolutely love it. Android just like fire stick without all the pushed Amazon nonsense.

I think they have a stick version too

I dislike Roku OS and the fact they require your CC on file 24/7. I much prefer the base android experience
This is the way,

If the "new max" just the 4k max with a new design? How does that make sense?
double storage which is actually a big deal for many because the prev 8 GB storage gets filled if you have like 4 apps
