That is a weird design.
I guess the Onyx series is weird in general.

That MSRP is crazy. It is only $129 at Walmart https://www.walmart.com/ip/Harman.../459148091
That $129 listing is a 3rd party seller that I would not buy from (too many 1 star reviews), but this speaker tends to run $199-249 when new. The ridiculous MSRP is due to Harman's listing and they have done that with this line for years.

These at various generations have historically gone down to this low $100 range, and the mixed reviews often take the high MSRP listing into account. These sound good (especially for $100 price point) and look nice, but are a bit less practical design that typical Bluetooth speakers (not water resistant and shape not great for tossing into a bag/portability.)

That Rtings link posted above is the previous version (Studio 6), which is different enough that I would not extrapolate. For example, this has dual tweeters in stereo, while the Studio 6 mixes down to mono.

I love the sound out of this speaker. Full range with good lows. Inside it sounds like a full legit stereo.

Negatives are:
At highest volume the sound gets lost outside.

The plug is not USB. It only plugs into the wall to charge.

Shorter battery life makes it a good 1 day speaker. Never lasts through a weekend of camping

I absolutely would buy again at 99.

Good catch. I saw other listing at the same price elsewhere but those were all refurbished. So if you want this speaker, then it's a good deal. I got a Sonos Roam on sale and I am very happy with it.

The sound on this is solid. I pair it with an old FireTV Stick hooked up to cheapy projector when the kids want to watch movies.

Only thing I disliked was the USB port is for service only and not powered.

I wanted to hook up my Chromecast Audio to turn it into a Google speaker.

I have the Onyx 6 and love it, but won't get another Onyx until they move to USB-C charging (and receive a hefty discount)

Garbage battery life. Do not even consider this speaker please. I'm thankful they offer free return shipping.

From my experience & reading online reviews, the last great Onyx made was the Onyx 4. Everything after that was okay, but really didn't sound as good.

It's $100. At MSRP it's not worth it, imo, but at $100, this is a great speaker.

Agreed. I bought the Go and Play boom box style almost 2 years ago and maybe get 15 minutes vs. hours.

However, I got 20ish watts more when plugged in.

Amazing sound though.

I have this and enjoy it. I'm actually a fan of the aesthetic. It looks nice, premium in person if one is feeling the style. As with all speakers, placement is huge. Worth experimenting with your room. Can go from mediocre to filling the space with bass.

Had this for about a year. The strike through price is a joke but this is a great sounding speaker.
