These at various generations have historically gone down to this low $100 range, and the mixed reviews often take the high MSRP listing into account. These sound good (especially for $100 price point) and look nice, but are a bit less practical design that typical Bluetooth speakers (not water resistant and shape not great for tossing into a bag/portability.)
That Rtings link posted above is the previous version (Studio 6), which is different enough that I would not extrapolate. For example, this has dual tweeters in stereo, while the Studio 6 mixes down to mono.

I guess the Onyx series is weird in general.

Also, the Rtings review ain't great:

Negatives are:
At highest volume the sound gets lost outside.
The plug is not USB. It only plugs into the wall to charge.
Shorter battery life makes it a good 1 day speaker. Never lasts through a weekend of camping
I absolutely would buy again at 99.

Only thing I disliked was the USB port is for service only and not powered.
I wanted to hook up my Chromecast Audio to turn it into a Google speaker.
However, I got 20ish watts more when plugged in.
Amazing sound though.
