Also IKEA has free small parts replacement for life. Ordered glides for my malm dresser. Didn't need to provide proof of purchase. Google IKEA parts.

Thanks OP, just ordered my 4th MALM dresser

Surprisingly our MALM bed has lasted over 10 years of being used by my then bachelor husband, then by us and now in the guest room for past 3 years and in between dis-assembled, moved and re-assembled twice. It's only started to creak a bit now when our 3 kids jump on it as if it were trampoline.

I first bought these on sale in 2009-10 time frame for $40 each (bought 3 at the time)

Then a couple of years ago bought a couple for $70 if I remember correctly.

They are $150 regular price now? That is crazy. They are good dressers though. My first 3 survived a move from Florida to Texas fully assembled and my second 2 survived a move from Las Vegas to Virginia fully assembled.

Malm bed frames are fine, they damage easily in moves but last forever if left in place.

The dressers loosen up over time if you move them a lot, the joints with the cam locks are garbage if they get any stress. Any chips in the veneers are a pain to fix as it's cardboard and particle board underneath.

These used to be $50 and worth it for that. Laminated particle board with a cardboard back. Have 2 of them that have seen better days.

IKEA furniture = particle board = disposable furniture. Good for college dorm days though when $ is tight and garbage quality will suffice.

These were about $70 a few years ago.
It's incredible how Ikea is this expensive and you need to put everything together yourself.

Yeah, and houses used to be half the price a few years ago. Things get more expensive.

IKEA was great when it was an inexpensive product you spent hours building yourself, while swearing and drinking afterwards. I like the furniture resupply stores where you can buy a solid wood already built dresser for 80$ and then sand and repaint it yourself.

You obviously haven't been to IKEA in years.

Dang, I just drove past Ikea this afternoon. I'm sure the remaining 6 will sell out before I get back in the area next weekend...

Ikea Storage event is happening right now.

A lot of their storage stuff is on sale, and it's actually pretty decent savings:

I wish IKEA would bring back medium brown color. It was a nice option, now they only have this black, maple and white.

Same. Bought them in 2016 for 39.99. Unbelievable how the prices have shot up but the salaries are the same. Lol. It's not worth 100 for sure as it still flimsy. This is not inflation over 4 times but everyone trying to make money while blaming it on inflation.

Same here. bought in 2013, was our primary bed for about 5 years, then guest bed since then. Assembled 4 times and no creaks as far as I know.

I always put together Ikea furniture with a bead of woodglue at every joint. It generally becomes bulletproof at that point (sort of finish issues unrelated to construction).

I got my MALM bed second hand in 2009 and it has survived 4 moves. I am sitting on it and typing this today.
