Can this be jailbroken, or is it stuck with crappy amazon store ecosystem?

Look up FireToolbox , it automates everything. You can remove most (recommended) or all (experimental) of amazon's bloat. I have used it on Fire 10 a lot, hopefully still works on Fire 11.

How did this turn into a rant about Amazon GC policy change thread? There're other forums for off topic discussion.

Can anyone confirm firetoolbox works on this? Last tablets I bought recently were HD10s and the 3gb versions were still on a toolbox-able firmware, but the 4gb models were not.

if it only had wireless charging. I use my Fire 8+ a lot for streaming apps and bathroom trips. Handy and speakers are quite good for the size.

Because its specs are equivalent to a 4 year old tablet. Amazon is literally selling years old components at a premium price.

i don't see any reason NOT to wait for prime day... at the very least it'll be exactly the same discount lmfao. ig some ppl are impatient
And then they'll complain that Amazon won't price match and/or that they wasted their 20% trade-in coupon.

Happens every time.

The "Max" must stand for "Maximum disappointment". These are poor performers for the money with genuinely underwhelming SoC's, only 4GB RAM, and base 64GB internal storage -AND you have to cope with lock-screen ads? Yeah I'm not seeing much value here.

There are tablets that sit in the same price-range that come with double the RAM, double the internal storage, no lock-screen ads, actually normal Android OS, and similar strength SoC's. If you're going to buy something that comes with an SoC that performs like a couple year old midrange chip, at least get something with respectable storage and RAM.

Completely agree for the most part. I had used Amazon tablets for several years, but when they dropped support for the Fire HD 10 Plus in less than two years (no Android upgrade), I was done with them. I still like their TV and Echo devices, but I am very over the tablets. Lenovo, Samsung, etc. all have better options. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the one you point to though, it's a bit dated and as others pointed out, much slower than the Max 11.

In my experience FTB very buggy. Something's work some things don't I think the HD 10 has better support. I do know my way around tinkering but this 11 has been a nightmare. HD 10 was a breeze with FTB.

If I could do it all over again I honestly wouldn't buy the 11

On Prime Day this past July, Amazon was not giving an immediate 20% trade-in discount. They were giving the discount once they received the trade-in item in the mail. Now it's an immediate discount again. Just something to think about if you're waiting until the upcoming Prime sale.

OMG you are right, I just tried to buy an Uber GC and now its a no go.

This is a freaking nightmare!!!

I have so much Amazon credit built up just to make all these GC purchases. And during BF and xmas I would get a bunch of BB, Lowes, Kohls, Staples and OD GC.

This is really F-kd up!!!
I just give my uber drivers Amazon GCs.

F***ing Amazon. They changed giftcard policy, you can no longer use Amazon GC balance to buy third party gift cards.

This is a major thing for many netizens. It's very common to trade for Amazon GCs or receive Amazon GCs from various freebie sources like surveys/receipts etc. You'd just keep central Amazon GC balance that is then usable for various other things you actually want like Dog food from Chewy or Dominos pizza order.
Chat with them and complain. Maybe enough complaints will get them to rethink this disaster of a change.
