There are four ways you can be eligible to become a member at Truliant:

Live, work, worship or attend school in a county near one of our branches
Work for one of our business partners
Have an immediate family or household member who is currently a member of Truliant
Join through the American Consumer Council if you live in GA, NC, SC, TN or VA

You could say that about Costco, Meijer, Microcenter, or many regional stores.

But credit unions are insured up to the same dollar limits as banks by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) which is basically identical to FDIC insurance and backed by the full faith and credit of the US government.

There is no risk of loss putting money up to the $250k insured limit in a credit union.

You should not lock up or get taxed on (stocks, etc) money you need before maturity.

In your case, I would look at a high yield savings account, which are getting 4+% right now.
yes but don't most of those require you to make consistent direct deposits, either to get the high interest, or just as terms of the account?

I found it easy, and money transfer uses Plaid, so that is also easy
I want to deposit money from more than one external account into a single certificate. When I went through the online application, it seemed to be 1-for-1, which I don't prefer. Did you do a 1-for-1 or a (2+)-for-1 to establish your CD?

I did a 1for1, so I'll likely open other CDs from other accounts

They do check ChexSystems so that may have triggered something. My application for membership was declined until I put a temporary thaw on my ChexSystems record.

My application review took a day before approval. Oddly enough I see that my account is now funded, but the money was never taken out of the funding account.

Not aware of anything that would do that. Just tried to pull chex report but they are going to mail instead of being able to view online..

The initially rejected my application due to ChexSystems, however when i called and spoke with a rep, they said it was an error and then they approved my app. just waiting on account open email now.

UPDATE: I'm in! I am also seeing the CD funded, but sometimes it take a day for the ACH to complete.

Got a copy of my ChexSys report. Personal information was listed. Nothing under reported information. A ton of CreditKarma "Viewed by you" entries. Glad i called to get it sorted out.

That may have been what happened to me as well. It certainly wasn't anything in my Chex record. Although my Chex had been frozen since 2017, I've opened up at least eight bank accounts since then without issue.

Do we have to be a federal employee? I don't see any branches in GA. Has anyone from GA tried to enroll?

Exactly my approach..Been putting any maturing CDs into T-bills at varying weeks and rolling them. What better way to make money off of our crumbling society and it's apparently crumbling better than ever.
Could someone provide the link to open an account to invest in T-bills? Appreciate any input to get started. Thanks in advance!

I am happy with the Credit Human 6% 17mo cd especially since it was nationally available for anyone.
