hmmm if you look at one of the photos of the item listing, it shows that you can either use it to mirror your laptop or extend as a secondary screen.

I think it also depends on what computer you're using and what operating system you're using and the graphics card capability of your computer.

For example I think I remember that for current Macbook Pros like the M1, the OSX wouldn't let you connect more than 1 monitor. A hardware limitation by apple, with no way of fixing it.

However, for something like an M2 MacBook Pro 15, you might be able to connect one monitor with the built-inHDMI port on the right of the laptop and then use the anker hub to hook up a second monitor.

^however, I'm not 100% sure, so you might wanna just give it a test run. Some Anker products might not be able to.

For me, I'm currently running 3 external monitors attached to my M2 Macbook Pro. One monitor is using the HDMI port on my laptop, and then 2 other Monitors are attached to an OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock. In order to get all monitors running, had to install DisplayLink Monitor app onto my Mac. So I essentially have 4 screens right now - laptop and the 3 external monitors.

Hope that helps! Sorry, I'm not able to comment on PC capability since I mainly run Apple.

If you mean video out of this device through both the HDMI and the USB port, no. The USB c ports aren't thunderbolt.

As was said, depending on the machine, you may be able to HDMI out and thunderbolt out to this, but the only reason to do that would be if your monitor only had HDMI, just getting a monitor with USB c in would be a lot better experience.

The reality of these cheap hubs is while they support 4k, 4k/30hz is in small print.

You can get steam deck docks for $20 that are not fully featured. I got one with 4 usb ports, HDMI, and Ethernet.
