I was playing with that target circle deal for the other day (10% - 20% off purchases once per account, discount depends on the person) and it was taking off the discount from gaming laptops and also stacked with the Redcard 5% off.

For me my discount is 10% so the out the door math works out...direct copy and paste:

$899.99
Discounts -$315.00
$649.99 price in cart on Lenovo Gaming Laptop
10% off Storewide
Shipping Free
Estimated taxes $42.41
Total $627.40

This MSI with RTX 4050 is $799 before 10-20% + 5% once adding to cart as well

Be careful with the rest of the gaming laptops though. Most of those seem to be using Intel Gen 9-11 CPU's.

Actually (worst case) $584.99. See above. And an extra 8gb of ram is $25 and 15 minutes of your time.

But feel free to post a better deal.

If you care about gaming performance and CPU, definitely go for that one... ~50% better performance.

Both CPUs are fine for basic 1080p gaming so it comes down to minor details and the GPU. Of course, if you're running CPU heavy tasks regularly, the 8 core Ryzen 7 you linked would be better since the 12450H only has 4 performance cores (along with 4 efficient cores). Note that I've started to see some recent major games come out that are quite CPU heavy at times so 4 p cores may be a bottleneck sooner than later if you play new, demanding releases.

For GPU, here's one of the best comparisons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pk8M1aOFUiE

4050 would generally give you an FPS boost along with DLSS 3, although DLSS 3 isn't very widely supported at this time and does have other issues so it's very low on my own list of priorities. Of course, laptop benchmarks are for the entire system so just going from 3050 to 4050 by itself wouldn't give you the full fps boost (from the youtube video) since the 4050 laptop has a newer CPU also.

Also if open box is fine, look for Best Buy open box deals. I see some open box deals near me for that exact model so it knocks off up to $65 more.

Not a good deal,

Best Buy has a version with the i5 13th gen cpu and 1TB SSD for $679 on sale regularly

30 dollars for 512gb ssd + 1 gen newer cpu.

https://slickdeals.net/f/16945180-lenovo-loq-15-6-fhd-144hz-i5-13420h-rtx-3050-6gb-8gb-ddr5-1tb-ssd-599-99

It pops up commonly too and if lucky it can go to $599 like this ^

One of the reviews hints at a second ram stick.... I'm not going to verify, but you should if you need more than 8GB.

16GB used to be the "standard" for gaming, 32GB seems to be what most people are considering these days.
