Pros:
Handles any task I throw at it with ease (photo editing, autocad, and current triple a games with xg mobile)
Xg mobile eGPU compatible.
Asus software is pretty user friendly and allows you to tweak settings easily.
Ssd is easily upgradable.
Gsync.
Works with surface pen.
Surface pro design
Cons:
Surface pro design
Ssd is 2230 (but prices have been cheap recently so this may not be a con).
Heavy.
Fingerprint reader is a hit or miss and hard to find as there are no indicators on the reader which is also the power button.
Can get extremely loud.
Can get extremely hot.
Xg mobile is very finicky.
100w charging is only supported with included charging cable or xg mobile.
Battery life is pretty bad. I use this at work and with running on the iGPU, cpu on silent mode, and windows battery saver mode on, I get about 4 hours of email, word processing, and browsing the web.
I love this tablet. It's heavy, runs hot, and battery is trash but it handles every single one of my tasks with ease. If you don't mind spending more than i would recommend looking into the newer models as they seem to have improved on some of the cons that I mentioned above.
Edited: I have the i9 model. So I assume battery life would be better on the i7.
The i9 indeed runs every hot and has poor battery life compared to this. Despite not being as cool as a cucumber, this (with the i7) does handle temperature and battery life relatively and noticeably better.

70~ minutes under heavy load.
340~ web browsing or video watching
But keep in mind - longer runtime = heavier bigger battery.
There's NO OTHER PC TABLET in existence that's lighter and has a fast nvidia gpu.
So yes, you can take the 6+lbs gaming laptop with huge battery that'll run longer or....
2.6lbs (vs 2.8lbs MacBook Air) - odd how you doing hear Apple users call the Air "heavy"...
Heck, 4 cans of beer is heavier.
Great price for the 2022 model!

I thought about an iPad pro but keep talking myself up into having a real operating system to be able to use real Lightroom and play some light games.
I've got a surface 3 at home and use a surface 4 at work so it seems easy to stick with that. Having at least some okay battery life would be better than minimal, but I'd like to have a good digital note taking capability as well. Thoughts?

Though if note taking and long battery life is the goal, stick with the surface pro. The only real advantage of this Asus is that graphics card for people who want to game on the go, but from experience you sacrifice a lot of battery life for it. The price is very good though right now for BNIB compared to a surface that will probably cost you a lot more for the latest model.
