Dell has a contract with the 3rd parties to have these features but in return Dell can't or won't sell them with these feature. It makes no sense to me why Dell does this besides if you want these features you'll have to go buy it from one of those 3rd parties so it's giving them the business.

Won't touch a Lenovo. Too many bad memories when I was traveling constantly to Asia for a few years.
Much over $300 is too expensive. Been getting 1 yr old refurbs around $300 for the last 8 yrs. I really just need a remote access device back to my real computers over ssh or VPN. When I'm on a normal network, need NFS access. Dell's usually run a light Linux nicely.
I really miss the rj-45 port too. Wired ethernet preferred until I'm dead.
It's still available at $609, btw. https://www.target.com/p/lenovo-s...A-89133965
I was thinking of the "open-box excellent" slim pro 7 from best buy last week. That was a better deal than this IMO (r7, rtx3050, 2k@90hz).

This one from target isn't bad, but I could understand returning it. Esp if the touch bad isn't to your liking.

If you click the info icon where Dell talks about the USB type C port it says "available on all configurations in Platinum Silver with an aluminum chassis." The one offered in this deal is neither of those.

Sometimes I need to give presentations and open a shell to show some techniques. I also need a few different VPNs - sometimes IPSec, sometimes openvpn and sometimes wireguard. Just depends on the client. Fortunately, I never need MS-Windows.
And which Chromebook has an eithernet port?
HDMI 1.4 (Maximum resolution supported over HDMI is 1920x1080 @60Hz. No 4K/2K output)
Is it typical for Dell to not offer 4K out on a 1080p laptop? How does one verify if a laptop offers at least one 4K external output, besides digging through specs?

Some people reported that it actually works fine beyond that spec (as in, 4K @ 30 Hz, or higher refresh rates at 1080p).
Some people also reported that it stopped working after a driver update.
Dell officially states that this is a motherboard limitation, but I'm more inclined to believe that this is a driver limitation, not a hardware limitation. But since I never owned one of these machines, I did not have the chance to test it for myself (I'd purge the video driver with DDU and install one straight from Intel to test this)

Missed this when you posted. Yeah, that Best Buy one was a great deal. I'm feeling fairly confident I'll be able to return the Target version (which, so far, I haven't been able to get the webcam to work, so another knock) and find something like the BB refurb slim deal.
The only thing I'm iffy on is the lack of Thunderbolt (that's all the target Lenovo has -- two TB ports, which is awesome, and also kind of pain because I have to carry a hub everywhere) on most of these deals. But USB4 is basically close enough, right?
