Note everyone. My Model Y loses battery 10% a night with sentry mode on. That's almost 3-5 dollars a night (supercharge). If you don't have a garage, this is not a car to get.
If you do not have access to a home charger and are forced to pay for the more expensive supercharger option daily, and you don't have a garage where the street constantly has activity near your car, you will lose 10% battery at an inflated cost - FTFY.

Aftermarket dashcam with self supported battery power supply would allow you to turn off Sentry, and at $3-$5 per night, you would get your dashcam money back in less than 6 months.

Your word of caution only applies in high density urban scenarios and does not account for ta large percentage of Tesla customers.

Why should my taxes help you buy a new car when I cant afford anything new?
They don't.

The tax credit reduces how much THE BUYER owes.

it doesn't give him anybody elses money- including yours. He just keeps more of his OWN money.

Is there a work around for the $7500 credit if income limits are exceeded? I believe the typical lease work around doesn't work with Tesla if we are interested in purchase because they do not allow purchasing a leased vehicle, is this correct? Is there a way to get the credit through a company (i.e. setup an LLC or something)? Thanks.

Just in case people weren't already aware, the $7500 tax credit just lowers your taxable income. It's not a dollar for dollar amount to be refunded at tax time. If your taxable income is $50,000 for 2023, this would lower it to $42.500 (thus lowering the amount of money you owe to the IRS).
That is absolutely not the case, do not spread misinformation

Did insurance ever go down on Teslas?

I mean for non-Tesla provided insurance that doesn't track your driving habits which also restricts you from driving late night as most accidents happen late at night.
I pay $800 for 6 months of coverage on my Model Y.

Hate to break it to you but EVs seem to have reached their peak. Chinese EV makers are going bankrupt. Rivian is close to being shut down. Lucid is not faring well. Market is too heavily saturated with minimal demand. Recent polls show more than 80% of people have no desire to purchase or think little of EVs. Lithium demand is also down a lot
You mentioned crappy EV companies Rivian and Lucid [google.com], they are crappy American company [google.com] , none of them is Chinese companies, they don't have batteries technologies, that is why they are failing..
The world largest EV company [fool.com] actually it is BYD in China.
If you don't know , now you should know!

Pls don't spread misinformation. Pls read before you post. Its not lowering the taxable income its tax credit its reduce your tax liability. For example if you make around 100K you should pay around 15K in fedral tax. You might pay this through monthly salary. If you owe $0 at the end of the year when u file tax you fill get $7500 refund.

Do you even realize how much just the EV battery is helping destroy the climate on earth ?
Lolololololol wow. How about we keep to the deal itself and keep misinformation to Twitter.

It's still the best deal for an electric vehicle. There is no vehicle that can promise no issues after 10 plus years. My 2009 a4 has multiple big issues and it only has 130k in miles.

I have a 2018 Model 3 and a 2020 Tesla Model Y and we love them both. They are fast cars and fun to drive.

Since we charge at home overnight we are saving a ton of money not having to pay for gas and other than tires we haven't had any maintenance costs. Our Model Y has 80K miles on it with little loss in battery life.

Yes we paid more for our car compared to the prices now but don't regret the decision. I get it some customers are pissed they paid more just months ago but in reality with legacy car manufacturers/dealer model you never know how much the next person paid for the same car. At the very least Tesla is transparent for the pricing of the car compared to legacy car manufacturers.

What about honda prologue EV SUV..looking promising coming in 2024.
Honda are reliable cars BUT they have shitty paint job. Their clear coat sucks. I know cause I had a civic, accord and an element. I clay, polish, sealed, waxed. Nothing will prevent it from oxidizing and peeling. There should be a recall on their crappy paint job!!!

Referral cash benefit dropped to $250
Elon's dropped the car's price by $2k, that's more than the previous referral bonus of $500, still he's giving $250.

Are Teslas built that bad? I'm considering an electric car.
It is not. I came from Lexus to ModelY and the driving give me a whole new experience. I really enjoy it. I do hope Tesla upgrade their inside. With Lexus, the suspension and quietness is so good. That is the only thing I missed. I hope tesla upgrade that in future.
Two obvious advantage I get when going to tesla is that I dont have to go to gas station, the car charged passively at night so save me time. Second, driving with their auto-pilot is so much better for me, less tired in long trip or traffic jam.
I have not drive other EV to compare but the main reason I pick tesla over them is because of supercharge.
Not a tesla fan boy, hate Elon for his ethics. Hope you find a good EV
