I got mine last year and paid $70k for the performance edition. With $7500 rebate and price drops, I am down over $25k compared to today… absolutely hate Tesla for that. But if you are looking to buy one, this is the best time to buy!
The price keeps dropping, no time is the best time...
Next year it will be much cheaper when more EVs coming to US market

I guess Musk realizes he has ripped off enough people and is now making the prices better since he's got competition coming

Battery degradation significantly slows down after the first 1-2 years.

Regardless, the items you listed aren't high ticket repairs.
Replacing the battery is likely to cost you more than the car is worth. Life expectancy of the car is about 10 years, objectively. Fit and quality control are awful, too.

There's no car in the same price range that gives you the same performance

How can you say a car that's only been available for four years last forever? Have you heard of battery degradation. In 10 years from now your batter range will be closer 200 miles if it still works. On top of this you aren't exempt from bearing replacement, tie rods, control arms and bushings. We have no idea how long these will cars will last.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we start seeing Federal Tax Credits for repairs and battery replacements too. 😏

Tesla Motors doesn't control lending rates and not everyone finances their purchase. What they can easily control is the price of the car.
Actually they can. Many major car makers provide lending. Ever see zero percent financing from GM and Toyota? What you seem to be referring to is used car lending rates

EV or hybrid will require a battery replacement in the long term. Don't forget that.

Watch one 5min. compilation and tell me if ICE cars are still better than EVs with the cost of ICE repairs up 25% on average since 2020. Mostly due to lack of mechanics and parts shortage.

i'm in a love hate relationship with my m3. I enjoy the tech and driving experience but the car feels unrefined in many ways.

I'd say tesla engineers did a good job when it comes to building the power train and battery. But not everything else.

That said i haven't had any real issues with my 2023 model so far. EVs are new technology so every manufacturer will struggle with reliability. The problem is I'm not sure if reliability tops the priority list for Tesla

I owned a Model X since 2017. Sold it to some poor soul last year. Besides the normal problems such as defective door latches trapping you inside a car(only able to leave from rear), rear door switches breaking, sensors not working causing the doors to not open, etc, there's a bigger problem where it tells me Tesla made these cars not to last a long time: the eMMC decision in the multimedia computer. It didn't come about until after the 4 year warranty expired. It was basically a stupid mistake of using subpar 8gb emmc memory with massive data logging in the car which causes them to fail. It was right at warranty end when this was known causing constant rebooting of the computer while driving. Why it wasn't a recall made it suspect at that time. They don't build their cars to last. Don't let the fan boys tell you otherwise.
Not sure if you are aware you can pay to upgrade it for 2250...are you sure you were a tesla owner? Ever owner of a tesla back to 2013 has the exact OPPOSITE sentiment than what you are broadcasting.

The Volvo EX30 is cheaper and faster. Especially the Dual Motor version.

just hold out the model 3 highland or if you're patient wait for the model y jupiter.

current model y is noisy as hell also
Highland? Jupiter? I guess Tesla gave up on the iterative model as completely hopeless but they still haven't gotten to the annual model everybody else uses for good reason.

THE COMPETITION IS COMING has been the refrain for 10 years.

Meanwhile so far this year Tesla in the US has outsold the next -19 brands combined-

The competition ain't coming. Legacy auto is incapable of making a profitable EV (and the UAW strike will only make that worse).... so they keep failing to produce compelling vehicles, and they don't produce the ones they DO sell in great numbers because the more they make the more $ they lose.

The nearest thing in the world to competition for Tesla is BYD, and they don't sell here (and have much smaller margins on the stuff they do sell in China)

Literally none of this is true of course.

Actual fleet data show even 10 year old Model S retaining near 90% of original charge after 200,000 miles.

You mean the car you can't actually get this year and which is more expensive since it doesn't get the $7500 tax rebate? On top of being a MUCH smaller vehicle?

The problem with Teslas (other than Elon) is every Tesla over 5 years old is starting to look like a 10 year old Nissan Altima. They're not holding up well.
So it's not holding up well because of the way it looks? My M3 w 80k and no issues would disagree.
People complaining about prices, that's what happens when you adopt new technology. It's start's expensive and gets cheaper.
People complaining about defects, very low percentage, like ICE car catching on fire never make the news but when it happens to Teslas, everyone is all on it.
Gas is $7 but I have solar, and so do so many others. It's not for everyone. To each their own
