How can you say a car that's only been available for four years last forever? Have you heard of battery degradation. In 10 years from now your batter range will be closer 200 miles if it still works. On top of this you aren't exempt from bearing replacement, tie rods, control arms and bushings. We have no idea how long these will cars will last.
I owned a Model X since 2017. Sold it to some poor soul last year. Besides the normal problems such as defective door latches trapping you inside a car(only able to leave from rear), rear door switches breaking, sensors not working causing the doors to not open, etc, there's a bigger problem where it tells me Tesla made these cars not to last a long time: the eMMC decision in the multimedia computer. It didn't come about until after the 4 year warranty expired. It was basically a stupid mistake of using subpar 8gb emmc memory with massive data logging in the car which causes them to fail. It was right at warranty end when this was known causing constant rebooting of the computer while driving. Why it wasn't a recall made it suspect at that time. They don't build their cars to last. Don't let the fan boys tell you otherwise.

What about honda prologue EV SUV..looking promising coming in 2024.
I wouldn't go for an EV that is like the first edition. I am not saying it is going to have issues but the probability would be higher compared to an EV already coming from an assembly line that is ongoing for couple years. If you want an alternative ID4 or Mach-e could be options but imo Tesla is better.

Volvo EX30 also coming, I think it is a smaller vehicle though, starts at 35k.

A few Model S vehicles seem to have no more than 10% degradation at about 10 year mark. thats about a 30 mile range loss.... Not sure where you are getting your numbers.
You can't even get a new Model Y to come close to hitting it's intended range. Most MY are getting around 250-270 miles that is supposed to hit 330 miles on a charge. No chance a 10 year old battery is only losing 30 miles of range. Neighbors battery is just under 80k miles and already 13% degredation on his MY.

I'd prefer a Model Y from the Shanghai plant.

They are trying to say it's an SUV when really it's just a hatchback.

Good/bad/etc... Just regarding the deal itself, the price drop makes it only $4500 now vs $6500 to upgrade from RWD version. IMO, if we could just get another $2k drop across the board until remodel launches, that would really keep the pressure on other "coming soon" models from other brands. Still amazing numbers vs any other option and legacy automakers really need to kick it in gear. Remember, regardless of the love/hate for them, their mission is unchanged and it requires other players to do their part.

Sounds like a car that makes it to 1 million miles would cost more in maintenance than just a new car at that point. Plus the extra gas costs on 1 million miles of electric vs a million miles on gas.

I think 1 million may be a stretch, I wouldnt want to drive the car in that video, and I wouldnt want to do maintenance on that car either.

We do have estimates around the 300,000 mile mark though, and based on that, I'd say its a fair assessment to say it would cost a lot less to drive the EV than the gas vehicle. I anticipate 500,000 or 1,000,000 would be no different:

lmfao the dude in the vid spent $19k in repairs. I'm almost 250k miles in my civic and only repair I've had to do is a starter ($100)

It won't surprise me if there will be another discount wave in December. Tesla can go aggressive for the top line growth as the fiscal year end approaches.
