The range is probably similar, though the Y is more efficient if you're paying for all the electricity rather than getting it for free. The X will be noticeably faster. The second screen on the X is a plus, and the stalks. The X will have more comfortable suspension and will probably be quieter. The rear doors are cooler.
But a brand new Y will have newer tech, will charge faster with less charge needed to drive each mile, and will come new with zero wear.
I'd probably keep the old X unless you really prefer a smaller vehicle and care about the small difference in per mile efficiency.

I would bet that EVs should be a little easier to evaluate when used, especially for a layperson. If you can talk the owner into letting you take a 10-20 mile test drive, you can probably get at least a snapshot of the battery health.
Literally everyone who purchases a new car is underwater on their loan. All new cars lose about 20% of their value as soon as you drive them off the lot. Even if you buy a used car, it will depreciate each year and probably be worth less than your loan value before long.

with MUCH faster 0-30 acceleration. M3P also has a higher top speed at 162 mph vs 155 for the M3.
For me that means it's a LOT more fun.
I do agree with most of your points though.
Don't get me wrong, I love my model 3 performance however from a car enthusiast perspective an EV can never parallel the experience of a pure sports car like an m3.The sensation of shifting through the gears and hearing the roar of the engine with the turbos spooling up makes for an incredible experience. Yeah, instant torque from EV is nice but it doesn't have too much flavor if that makes sense. You step on it, next thing you know ur at 80 and then ur done. When I drive pure sports cars like his m3 the adrenaline starts as soon as I turn the car on. It feels like a rocket getting ready to launch.
But then again, you have to look at it from the perspective of practicality. He bought his car to drive for fun once a week. I bought my car primarily to commute daily and travel long distances while relaxing, and in addition I get to have some fun with it.
