If they drop model y to 40k long range without tax credit I'll buy it for sure. With tax credit then makes it a good deal.

But repair cost is insane I know.

All other ev brands are dead short rivian lucid and other ev manufactures stock

How can you say a car that's only been available for four years last forever? Have you heard of battery degradation. In 10 years from now your batter range will be closer 200 miles if it still works. On top of this you aren't exempt from bearing replacement, tie rods, control arms and bushings. We have no idea how long these will cars will last.
Er… then you sound like someone who have not heard of the million miles battery tesla has silently fitted their cars.

Until they find a way to properly recycle batteries and it doesn't cost thousands of gallons of more water to put out an electric vehicle fire vs gasoline, im not sure how good I can feel about it being better for the environment.

So far it still feels like two evils. And without proper infrastructure in most of the country for charging, let alone keeping our homes and business powered - I don't see why I shouldn't wait a bit longer to hop on the EV train.

Damn it. It's called competition. Be glad that the next car you buy will be cheaper because of it. Be happy that your neighbor can now afford it. Spread love not hate for companies making a pro-consumer move instead of just expanding their margins with ever higher prices.
Dropping the price on a product could mean anything and could have nothing to do with a company being pro consumer in fact most times it doesn't and has to do more with competition, future decrease in forecasted sales cheaper sourced materials etc etc etc .

In a few years Tesla gonna be priced like Toyota when China saturates the market with its homegrown EVs unless the US levy tariff to protect Tesla.
Automakers are building EV factories all over the USA. And battery factories too.

It's not at all similar to other industries like solar panel production where the US never invested and gave all of it away to China.

I too thought I was buying a car with minimal maintenance for the long run when I bought my 2013 Model S. Once these Teslas are past their battery/drive unit warranty you either need a 3rd extended warranty or be prepared for an eyewatering bill to happen at any moments notice.

New Battery is $13k+
New Drive Unit $6k+

4 yr/50k mi warranty

Last time Tesla dropped prices, did their margins decrease? It's public information, YES they factually did. How is that then not pro-consumer? Then used to have a 37% margin, now between 9-15% depending model. Many times (public information; do your research) their margins have sequentially lowered. Likely their margins are now even lower with the latest cuts. I'm not saying at all they did this for the goodness of humanity, this is the positive effect of competition and we should all be thankful, even those that already bought or own a car, Tesla or otherwise.

I love EV's but I agree we don't know how long they will last on average. Most people will get rid of their Tesla because the HVAC, interior, and suspension will go. Just like most Mercedes and BMWs, it isn't the engine, it is everything else. Unlike most other cars, you cannot get the parts at your local auto repair shop for cheap and install it yourself. Telsa parts and body panels are still extremely expensive which will kill them from being on the road a long time. We have a few high mile examples for tesla but very small dataset that is loud and vocal. Almost any car now will do 175K with a few minor repairs. There are millions of Toyotas and Hondas that go way past 200K miles. Don't give people false hope.
Lots of used Tesla cars here in CA and the prices are soft. Likely headed lower too.

I have 2022 model y when it was $54000 (I added wheel and hitch total $57000) and 19000 miles on it now. Is it worth selling it to cavana and get this new one with federal credit? (NJ has also $1500 rebate) my current payment is $750 (down $8500). Any opinions are welcome πŸ™

The AWD and range increase makes this a decently easy choice now, frankly these cars last forever, teslas ability to make the car an appliance means youll likely keep it in your family for years upon years, youll either give it to your parents, sister, kid, etc after 8 years. $4500 over 8 years is only extra $562. Its almost "regret insurance" at that point, if every year you get into a situation where you wish you had awd and slightly more range than youll kick yourself for not having gotten this. (I also think the LR has subwoofers and rwd doesnt... but someone would have to confirm that for me)
Lol he said "last forever"

Yes, so? Why would anyone who cares about democracy buy one of his cars?
True. Only people who love America and its constitutional republic will support Mr. Musk.

Won't you take a huge bath on it at carvana? Used Tesla prices are coming down. Find out what you can get it for it. Only way to make a real decision.
