Our 3 Teslas: LRMY 33k miles , performance 3 35k miles and RWD3 22k miles all 2021s have only had 0-2 minor repairs per vehicles in that time. My P3 has had powered trunk actuator replaced twice. Both done in less than 10 mins in my driveway at my house under warranty. Wife's MY has had zero repairs and our RWD3 had a rattle on passenger side seatbelt cover panel. Fixed again via mobile in under 15 mins.

First Gen usually have numeric issues. Tesla spent years to make it better. Still today with Tesla there are some build and paint quality issues.

Also Japanese EV mostly import from Japan. If it is, quality from Japan should be good.
But as EV performance, I think Japanese EV still lag there

Model Y is not much better. Trust me. I hate it.
We have a model 3 and a model y and they both are not noisy. In fact at low speeds the cars are so QUIET compared to ICE. On the highway there is some road noise but I would think similar to other cars in this price range- in any case it is nothing that bothers me. I really like highway driving with the autopilot - relaxing to have it adjust speed and pull around slow cars and take the correct exit.

Your lack of reading is a disservice to everyone in this thread. He referenced a level 1 charger. What you are referencing is not a level 1 charger.
His response was based on me mentioning that I installed a level 2 charger in my garage. Gotta go deeper in the context!

Shall Intrade in my Lexus RX350 for Model Y long range ? I don't drive much and I love drive quality of Rx350 but I love tesla tech so I am confused.
Never, the ride quality of model Y is horrendous compared to a Lexus. No CarPlay. No HUD. No 360 cam. The tech is only attractive for a while like a new phone then you are stuck with a bad ride for years. I have a EV and had a M3 and MY

Everybody thinks they save money driving a Tesla, but nobody will tell you the cost of insurance negates everything
I pay around $140 a month for my 2023 RWD SR Model 3 and 2023 Model Y Performance through USAA I don't see much of a difference in insurance from an ICE vehicle at least for me.

How can you say a car that's only been available for four years last forever? Have you heard of battery degradation. In 10 years from now your batter range will be closer 200 miles if it still works. On top of this you aren't exempt from bearing replacement, tie rods, control arms and bushings. We have no idea how long these will cars will last.
Yep, I'm looking for long term reliability like our 2003 Chevy truck. We have 319k miles now, got the oil analysis and the results were very good. The comments coming back from the oil analysis; "We've got no concerns when it comes to this Chevy and the way you're taking care of it! This thing may just outlast us all." Does it burn some oil between oil changes, yes. Does it require bearing, belt, pump, thermostat, filter, suspension joint replacements? Yes. But these parts are all relatively inexpensive, easy for me to replace and even available for purchase on Amazon. Insurance is less than an EV. And I don't worry about subscriptions or technology obsolescence. Maybe someday I'll find an EV with all these characteristics.

I'm only 7 pages in, but these threads are hilarious. If you choose not to buy a Tesla because you don't have enough tax liability, odds are you shouldn't buy a new Y, but rather a used 3, or a used hybrid.

Also, EVs are not yet ready to replace ICE for a road trip. If range is not a priority, and you qualify for max rebates, the Return on Investment analysis shows the most economical choice is ICE for 5 years ownership, break even at 7 years, and EV for 10+ years.

Maintenance on an ICE will always be more than a battery, if you plan to hand it down generations. Good luck having your grandkids work on a 2024 Silverado.
